Chios Island National Airport (JKH), named "Omiros" after Homer, is the airport for the island of Chios in the eastern Aegean. It sits just south of Chios Town, in the Kampos area, and is run by the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority.
All flights are domestic, so there is no passport control. Aegean Airlines and Sky Express fly to Athens, Olympic Air and Sky Express to Thessaloniki, and Sky Express also links Chios with Lemnos, Mytilene, Samos and Rhodes. You leave the aircraft on the apron and walk to the small terminal, where baggage reclaim is quick, and pre-booked drivers meet passengers outside the arrivals exit.
Greece is on Eastern European Time (UTC+2) and switches to UTC+3 for daylight saving time from late March to late October.
Entry requirements and local notes
Schengen entry. Greece is in the Schengen area. All flights to Chios are domestic, so travelers from outside the Schengen area clear passport control at their first Schengen airport, usually Athens. Non-EU travelers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), fully operational since 10 April 2026; the planned ETIAS travel authorization is not yet in operation.
Wind delays. Flights use smaller aircraft on a short runway, so strong winds can occasionally delay them. Keep the flight number on your booking up to date.
Kampos and village addresses. Many Kampos estates and village houses have no street number, so give the property name and a map pin when you book.
Euro and cash. Greece uses the euro; carry some cash for small purchases.
