Rome–Ciampino G. B. Pastine International Airport (CIA) is Rome's second airport, in the town of Ciampino southeast of the city, and Aeroporti di Roma runs it. All scheduled flights, most of them Ryanair, use one low-rise terminal with separate departure and arrival areas. There are no jet bridges, so you walk or ride a bus from the aircraft to the terminal.
Flights from Italy and other Schengen countries arrive without passport checks; from outside the Schengen area, including the UK and Morocco, you line up at passport control. After collecting your bags at one of the four baggage belts, you walk through customs into the arrivals hall, where pre-booked drivers meet passengers.
Rome is on Central European Time (UTC+1) and switches to UTC+2 for daylight saving time from late March to late October. Italy uses the euro.
Entry requirements and local notes
Schengen entry. Italy is in the Schengen area. Non-EU travelers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), fully operational since 10 April 2026. Check passport validity and visa rules for your nationality before you fly.
Ciampino or Fiumicino. Rome has two airports, both run by Aeroporti di Roma. This page is for Ciampino (CIA); check the code on your ticket before you book. Landing at Fiumicino instead? See our Rome airport transportation page.
Historic center traffic zones. Much of central Rome is a limited traffic zone (ZTL) with pedestrian streets, so give your full address; your driver stops at the nearest point a car can reach.
Decline ride offers inside the terminal. Rome's licensed taxis are white with a TAXI sign on the roof. Turn down people who approach you inside the terminal and look for your driver with your name sign.
