Cochin International Airport (COK) is at Nedumbassery, northeast of Kochi, and is run by Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL). International flights use Terminal 3; domestic flights use Terminal 1, a separate building on the same airport road.
From an international flight you go to immigration in Terminal 3, then baggage claim and customs, with a green channel for travelers with nothing to declare. Domestic passengers go straight from the gate to baggage claim in Terminal 1. Only ticketed passengers may be inside the terminals, so you meet your driver outside the arrivals exit.
India is on India Standard Time (UTC+5:30) all year and uses the Indian rupee.
Visa and e-Arrival Card. Most foreign visitors need an Indian visa or e-Visa approved before departure. Since 1 April 2026 all foreign nationals, including OCI cardholders, must also file the e-Arrival Card online within 72 hours before landing and show its QR code at immigration.
Meeting outside the terminal. Only passengers with a ticket may enter Indian terminal buildings, so your driver waits outside the arrivals exit, not in the hall.
Check your departure terminal. For the ride back, domestic flights leave from Terminal 1 and international flights from Terminal 3. Indian airlines fly both, so check your boarding pass.
Indian rupees. India uses the rupee. Carry a little local cash or use an ATM at the airport for small purchases and tips.

The airport is about 25 km (16 miles) northeast of Kochi city center. The drive to Ernakulam usually takes around an hour along National Highway 544, and Fort Kochi, on the far side of the harbor, takes longer, depending on traffic.
