Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) stands on the Potomac River in Arlington, Virginia, across from Washington. It has two terminals that are not connected after security: Terminal 1, the original building, used by Southwest, Frontier and Air Canada, and Terminal 2, with Concourses B to E, used by American, Alaska, Delta, JetBlue and United.
Almost every flight is domestic, so there is no immigration or customs on arrival; flights from Canada and the Bahamas clear U.S. immigration before departure through preclearance. You walk from the gate to baggage claim on the arrivals level of your terminal, where screens show your carousel and pre-booked drivers meet passengers.
Washington is on Eastern Time (UTC-5), and on daylight saving time (UTC-4) from mid-March to early November. The currency is the U.S. dollar.
Entry requirements and local notes
Check your airport. Washington has three airports. If your ticket says Dulles (IAD) or Baltimore/Washington (BWI), book Dulles Airport Transportation or BWI Airport Transportation instead.
Preclearance arrivals. Flights from Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Nassau and other preclearance airports go through U.S. immigration and customs before departure, so have your passport and any visa or ESTA ready there, not at DCA.
ID for the flight home. Domestic flights require a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or a passport at the security checkpoint.
Booked rides only. The airport asks travelers not to accept rides from drivers offering service outside a pre-arranged reservation or ride app; check the company name on your confirmation before getting in.
