Buenos Aires has two airports, and which one you land at changes how long the drive into the city takes.
- Ministro Pistarini International Airport (EZE), known as Ezeiza, handles most long-haul international flights. It sits about 35 km southwest of the city centre, and the drive usually takes 45 to 60 minutes, longer at rush hour.
- Aeroparque Jorge Newbery (AEP) handles domestic flights and some regional ones. It sits on the riverfront next to Palermo, 15 to 25 minutes from most central hotels.
A private transfer takes you from arrivals straight to your hotel or apartment, with the price fixed before you travel.
Where we drive
- Palermo and Recoleta, for hotels, restaurants and parks
- San Telmo and La Boca, the historic tango quarters
- Puerto Madero and Microcentro, for business hotels and the Buquebus ferry terminal to Colonia and Montevideo
- Transfers between Ezeiza and Aeroparque, for travellers connecting to a domestic flight
Before you travel
- Allow extra time for Ezeiza. Traffic on the Riccheri and General Paz highways can add half an hour at peak times, so leave early for an international departure.
- Changing airports? Many connections to Patagonia, Iguazú or Mendoza leave from Aeroparque, not Ezeiza. Check your ticket and leave at least three hours between flights.
- Travelling with a lot of luggage or a group? Book a larger vehicle in advance.
