Edmonton International Airport (YEG) is the main airport for Edmonton and northern Alberta. It lies south of the city in Leduc County, next to the town of Leduc.
All flights use one terminal on two levels: arrivals on Level 1 and departures on Level 2. Passengers flying to the United States clear US immigration and customs at YEG's US preclearance before boarding.
Arriving from abroad, you clear Canadian border services first, using the primary inspection kiosks or Advance Declaration in the ArriveCAN app, then a border officer. Bags are collected on Level 1, where the arrivals hall is. Edmonton is on Mountain Time and changes its clocks for daylight saving.
eTA or visa before you fly. Most visa-exempt visitors need an approved Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) before boarding a flight to Canada; travelers from other countries may need a visitor visa.
Advance Declaration. Filling in Advance Declaration in the ArriveCAN app before you land saves time at the primary inspection kiosks.
Winter cold. Edmonton winters are long and very cold. Keep a warm coat, hat and gloves in your carry-on, as you step outside to reach the vehicle, and allow for winter road conditions on trips to Jasper.
Mountain Time. Edmonton is on Mountain Time and observes daylight saving, so give return pickup times in local time.
