WestJet is a Canadian airline headquartered in Calgary, Alberta. It was founded in 1994 and began flying on 29 February 1996 as a low-cost carrier in Western Canada. It has since grown into Canada's second-largest airline, serving more than 100 destinations in Canada, the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, Europe and Asia.
Its main hub is Calgary, with further hubs in Toronto and Vancouver. WestJet flies an all-Boeing mainline fleet of 737s and 787 Dreamliners, and WestJet Encore operates regional turboprops. In 2023 WestJet took over Sunwing Airlines and folded its low-cost brand Swoop into the main airline, making it one of the largest operators of holiday flights from Canada to the sun.
WestJet is owned by Onex Corporation. Delta Air Lines, Korean Air and Air France–KLM took minority stakes in 2025. It is not a member of a global alliance but has codeshare partnerships with many airlines.
