Florence Airport, Peretola (FLR), also called Amerigo Vespucci Airport, is in the Peretola district on the northwest edge of Florence. It has one terminal: a main building with check-in, security and arrivals, connected to an older building with most of the gates. There are no jetbridges, so a bus takes you from the aircraft to the terminal.
From outside the Schengen Area you pass passport control before baggage reclaim; flights from Schengen countries arrive without passport checks. Baggage reclaim is small and can get busy when several flights land together. You then walk out into the arrivals hall.
Florence is on Central European Time (UTC+1) and switches to summer time (UTC+2) from late March to late October.
Entry requirements and local notes
Schengen entry. Italy is in the Schengen Area. Non-EU travelers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), fully operational since 10 April 2026; the planned ETIAS travel authorization is not yet in operation. Check the visa rules for your nationality before you fly.
Florence or Pisa. Many travelers to Florence fly into Pisa International Airport (PSA) instead. Check the airport code on your ticket and book the pickup at the airport you actually land at.
Limited traffic zone. Much of central Florence is a limited traffic zone (ZTL) closed to non-resident cars. Give us your full hotel address when you book so the drop-off can be planned.
Bus from the aircraft. Florence has no jetbridges, so expect a short walk or bus ride from the plane to the terminal.
