Federico García Lorca Granada-Jaén Airport (GRX), named after the Granada-born poet, is the airport for Granada and Jaén in Andalusia. It sits near Chauchina and Santa Fe, west of Granada. Aena runs it, and all flights use a single terminal with one runway.
Most flights come from elsewhere in Spain, with Vueling, Iberia, Binter Canarias, Air Europa and Volotea, so there is usually no passport check; Transavia flies from Amsterdam. If you fly in from outside the Schengen area, you go through passport control. The terminal is small, so baggage claim is usually quick, and pre-booked drivers meet passengers in the arrivals hall.
Spain is on Central European Time (UTC+1) and switches to UTC+2 for daylight saving time from late March to late October.
Entry requirements and local notes
Schengen entry. Spain is in the Schengen area. Arrivals from outside it, including the UK, go through passport control. Non-EU travelers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), fully operational since 10 April 2026; the planned ETIAS travel authorization is not yet in operation. Check the visa rules for your nationality before you fly.
Old town streets. Cars cannot enter much of the Albaicín and the old town, so give your full address when you book; where the street is closed to traffic, your driver stops at the nearest point a car can reach.
Euro and cash. Spain uses the euro; carry some cash for small purchases.
