Airport Transportation in Grenoble

Pre-booked private transportation takes you directly from Grenoble Alpes Isère Airport to your hotel, resort or vacation rental.

After immigration, baggage claim and customs, continue outside the terminal to the meeting area named in your confirmation. Your vehicle is reserved only for the passengers on your reservation: unlike a shared shuttle, it makes no extra hotel stops for other travelers, and the price is per vehicle, not per person.

Our airport transportation in Grenoble takes you from the airport at Saint-Étienne-de-Saint-Geoirs to hotels and apartments in Grenoble, to chalets and residences in Chamrousse, Alpe d'Huez and Les Deux Alpes, and to the Vercors villages around Villard-de-Lans.

Grenoble Airport Transfers

Grenoble airport transfers start in the arrivals hall of the single terminal, where your driver waits with a name sign after baggage claim and customs. We track your flight, so the pickup follows your real landing time, even on busy winter Saturdays, and the fixed price for your vehicle is agreed before you fly. Choose a sedan for two or a van for a family or ski group with board and ski bags.

Each Grenoble airport transfer goes door to door to your hotel or apartment in the city, or to your chalet or residence in the resort. Heading for Courchevel, Méribel, Val Thorens, Tignes or Val d'Isère in Savoie? Enter your address in the booking form to see whether a transfer is offered: when a vehicle is available for that route, the price shows before you pay; if it does not, contact us before you fly.

Grenoble Airport Shuttle

Our Grenoble airport shuttle is a private van for your party only, not a shared ski coach that waits for other flights and stops at several resorts on the way. It leaves as soon as you have your bags and skis, and suits families and groups heading up to the mountains.

Landing at Grenoble Airport

Grenoble Alpes Isère Airport (GNB) stands in the countryside at Saint-Étienne-de-Saint-Geoirs, northwest of Grenoble, and most of its flights are winter ski flights from the UK and Ireland. Passengers use one compact terminal, with arrivals on the ground floor; most aircraft park on the apron, so you walk or take a short bus ride to the building.

Flights from outside the Schengen area, including the UK, go through passport control, where lines build when several flights land together on winter Saturdays. The baggage claim hall has three belts, and skis and snowboards come out at a separate ski delivery point at the side of the hall. After customs you enter the arrivals hall, where pre-booked drivers meet passengers.

France is on Central European Time (UTC+1) and switches to UTC+2 for daylight saving time from late March to late October. It uses the euro.

Entry requirements and local notes

Schengen entry. France is in the Schengen area. Non-EU travelers, including UK visitors, are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), fully operational since 10 April 2026; the planned ETIAS travel authorization is not yet in operation. Check the visa rules for your nationality before you fly.

Grenoble, Lyon or Geneva. Skiers also fly to Lyon-Saint-Exupéry (LYS) and Geneva (GVA), which are different airports. This page is for Grenoble Alpes Isère Airport (GNB), so check the code on your ticket.

Mountain winter rules. From 1 November to 31 March, France's mountain law requires vehicles in mountain areas of the Alps to have winter tires or carry snow chains, and roads to the resorts can close briefly for snow clearing.

Euro and cash. France uses the euro. The airport has an ATM but no currency exchange desk, and cards are widely accepted in the resorts.

Grenoble Airport Transportation FAQs

Where will my driver meet me at Grenoble Airport?

In the arrivals hall of the single terminal, holding a sign with your name, after baggage claim and customs. Collect your skis or snowboard from the ski delivery point before you walk through.

How far is Grenoble Airport from Grenoble and the ski resorts?

Grenoble airport is about 45 km (28 miles) by road from Grenoble, around 40 to 50 minutes' drive. Chamrousse is about 1 hour 20 minutes away, Alpe d'Huez and Les Deux Alpes about 1 hour 50 minutes, and the Savoie resorts such as Val Thorens and Val d'Isère about 2 hours 40 minutes to 3 hours, longer in snow.

Can you take me to Grenoble city center?

Yes. We drive door to door to hotels and apartments in Grenoble, including the old town, the area around the train station and the university campus.

Can you take me to Alpe d'Huez or Les Deux Alpes?

Yes. We drive you to your hotel, chalet or residence in Alpe d'Huez or Les Deux Alpes. Give us the full address and any access details for the resort.

Can you take me to Chamrousse or Villard-de-Lans?

Yes. We drive to Chamrousse above Grenoble and to the Vercors resorts around Villard-de-Lans and Corrençon-en-Vercors.

Can you take me to Courchevel, Méribel, Val Thorens, Tignes or Val d'Isère?

These resorts are in the Tarentaise valley in Savoie, farther from Grenoble airport. Enter your address in the booking form to see whether a transfer is offered: when a vehicle is available for that route, the price shows before you pay; if it does not, contact us before you fly.

Can you take me to Lyon or Geneva?

Lyon and Geneva are cities with their own airports. Enter your address in the booking form to see whether a transfer is offered: when a vehicle is available for that route, the price shows before you pay; if it does not, contact us before you fly.

Do you drive to chalets and vacation rentals?

Yes. Give the full address, the chalet or residence name and any access details. Where a chalet is on a snow-covered or pedestrian lane, your driver stops at the nearest point a vehicle can safely reach.

How many terminals does Grenoble Airport have?

One. All flights use the same compact terminal, and every arriving passenger exits into the same arrivals hall.

Can I book a transfer for a late-night or early-morning flight?

Yes. Give your flight number when you book, and the pickup is set for your arrival time. Public buses from the airport are limited, especially in the evening, so a pre-booked car is the surest way to reach Grenoble or the resorts.

Should I buy transportation from people offering rides inside Grenoble Airport?

There is no need. Booking ahead gives you a confirmed vehicle and a meeting point before you land. If someone approaches you in arrivals, check the company name against your confirmation before getting in.

What happens if my flight is delayed or canceled?

We monitor the flight on your reservation, so your driver waits for the actual landing. If your flight number, date or airline changes, your flight is diverted to Lyon or another airport, or it is canceled, tell customer service so the pickup can be moved.

Can I book a ride back to Grenoble Airport?

Yes. Book a one-way departure or a round trip from your hotel, chalet or apartment, and give your flight number and departure time, so the pickup leaves time for the mountain roads, check-in and security.

Do I need snow chains or winter tires for the transfer?

No. From 1 November to 31 March, French mountain law requires vehicles in the Alps to have winter tires or carry snow chains, and that is the vehicle operator's responsibility, not yours.

Is Airport Transportation the same as Grenoble Alpes Isère Airport?

No. Airport Transportation is a private transfer service that books rides from GNB; we are not the airport or its operator. For terminals, airlines and other ways to get around, see our Grenoble Airport page.
