Istanbul Airport (IST), the main hub of Turkish Airlines, is on the European side of the city, north of the center near the Black Sea coast. All passengers use one very large terminal: concourse G handles domestic flights and concourses A, B, D and F international flights, so expect long walks from the gate.
On an international flight you pass passport control, collect your bags and clear customs into the public arrivals hall. Domestic passengers come out through a separate exit.
Turkey uses UTC+3 all year with no daylight saving time.
Visa or e-Visa. Many nationalities, including US, Canadian, UK and Australian citizens, can visit Turkey visa-free for up to 90 days in 180, while others need an e-Visa from evisa.gov.tr before departure. Your passport should be valid for at least six months from arrival.
