Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo International Airport (ZIH) sits by the sea about 10 km from Zihuatanejo and 16 km from Ixtapa. All flights use one passenger terminal with six gates.
On international flights, many of them seasonal winter routes from the United States and Canada, you clear immigration first, then collect your bags and pass customs before walking out to the meeting area.
Zihuatanejo and Ixtapa run on Central Standard Time (UTC−6) all year.
Zihuatanejo or Ixtapa? The same airport serves both towns, which are a few kilometres apart. Give the hotel name and the town so the driver heads the right way.
Hillside villas. Villas above La Ropa and La Madera are often on steep, narrow roads; mention it when you book so a suitable vehicle is assigned.
Surf trips. For Troncones or Saladita, declare surfboards and give the property name.
Entry. International visitors need a valid passport. Carry some pesos for tips and small purchases.
