John Wayne Airport (SNA), also called Orange County Airport, is in Santa Ana, beside Irvine, Costa Mesa and Newport Beach, and the County of Orange runs it. All flights use the Thomas F. Riley Terminal, one building divided into Terminals A, B and C: American, Delta, Breeze, Air Canada and WestJet use Terminal A, Alaska and United Terminal B, and Southwest, Allegiant and Frontier Terminal C.
Most flights are domestic, so you walk from the gate straight to baggage claim on the Arrival (lower) Level, below your terminal. International flights from Mexico arrive at Terminal C, where you clear U.S. customs first; flights from Canada are precleared before departure.
California is on Pacific Time (UTC-8), and UTC-7 from March to November.
Entry requirements and local notes
U.S. entry. Domestic passengers need no entry formalities. International visitors need a U.S. visa or, under the Visa Waiver Program, an approved ESTA before flying; flights from Canada clear U.S. immigration in Canada, and flights from Mexico clear customs at Terminal C.
Check your airport. This page is for John Wayne Airport (SNA) in Santa Ana. If your ticket says LAX, Long Beach (LGB) or Ontario (ONT), you land at a different airport; for Los Angeles International see our LAX airport transportation page.
Night curfew. Airline arrivals are not allowed from 11 pm to 7 am (8 am on Sundays), so a late flight that misses the curfew may be diverted to another airport. Tell us if your arrival airport changes.
REAL ID for flights home. For domestic flights, U.S. adults need a REAL ID-compliant license, a passport or another accepted ID at security.
