Jorge Chávez International Airport (LIM) is the main airport of Lima and of Peru, in Callao, northwest of Lima's historic center. Since June 1, 2025, all domestic and international passenger flights use the new terminal on the west side of the airfield; the old terminal on Avenida Faucett no longer handles passengers.
On an international flight you clear Peruvian immigration first, then collect your bags in the baggage hall and pass through customs into the arrivals hall on the first floor of the new terminal, where the information desks are.
Peru uses UTC-5 all year, with no daylight saving time.
Virtual entry record. Peru no longer stamps passports at Lima. Migraciones creates an electronic entry record, the virtual Andean Migration Card (TAM), which you can download from its website if you need proof of entry. Whether you need a visa depends on your nationality.
Pickup lanes. The lane in front of arrivals is reserved for vehicles authorized by the airport operator, so private cars collect passengers in the parking area or the marked Vía Libre bays. Your driver walks you there.
New access roads. The new terminal is reached from Avenida Morales Duárez over temporary bridges while the permanent Santa Rosa bridge is built, so allow extra time when heading back to the airport.
Peruvian sol. The currency is the Peruvian sol (PEN), and small bills are useful for tips.

Cusco, the base for Machu Picchu, is reached by a domestic flight from the same terminal at Jorge Chávez, with LATAM Airlines, Sky Airline and JetSMART. If you stay a night in Lima between flights, we can take you to your hotel and back.
