Lisbon Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS) sits inside the city, in the Olivais area northeast of the historic center, and is still often called Portela. It is operated by ANA Aeroportos de Portugal, part of VINCI Airports, and is the hub of TAP Air Portugal.
There are two terminals, but every flight arrives at Terminal 1; Terminal 2 is used only for departures by some low-cost airlines and is linked to Terminal 1 by a free shuttle bus. If you arrive from outside the Schengen Area, you pass passport control before baggage claim; flights from Schengen countries skip it. You then collect your bags, pass customs and walk out into the Terminal 1 arrivals hall.
Lisbon is on Western European Time (UTC+0) and moves to UTC+1 from late March to late October.
Entry rules. Portugal is in the Schengen Area. Non-EU travelers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), fully operational since 10 April 2026; the planned ETIAS travel authorization is not yet in operation. Check passport validity and visa rules for your nationality before you travel.
Departures from Terminal 2. Ryanair, Wizz Air and Transavia depart from Terminal 2, and you cannot walk between the two terminals. Tell us your airline when you book a ride back, so we drop you at the right one.
One hour behind central Europe. Lisbon is on Western European Time, one hour behind most of continental Europe, so check the times on any connecting tickets.
Decline ride offers inside the hall. Take taxis only from the official rank in front of arrivals and ignore people offering rides inside the hall; your pre-booked driver waits with your name sign.
