Airport Transportation in Lyon

Pre-booked private transportation takes you directly from Lyon Saint-Exupéry Airport to your hotel, resort or vacation rental.

After immigration, baggage claim and customs, continue outside the terminal to the meeting area named in your confirmation. Your vehicle is reserved only for the passengers on your reservation: unlike a shared shuttle, it makes no extra hotel stops for other travelers, and the price is per vehicle, not per person.

Our airport transportation in Lyon takes you from Saint-Exupéry to hotels and apartments on the Presqu'île between Bellecour and the Opéra, in Vieux Lyon and the Croix-Rousse, to Part-Dieu station and its business district, to Confluence, and to the Eurexpo exhibition center.

Lyon Airport Transfers

Lyon airport transfers start in the Terminal 1 arrivals hall, where all flights now arrive, and your driver waits there with a name sign after baggage claim and customs. We track your flight, so the pickup follows your real landing time, and you choose the vehicle for your party, from a sedan for two to a van for a family or group with skis and luggage.

Each Lyon airport transfer goes door to door to your hotel, apartment or office in Lyon or Villeurbanne, to Part-Dieu or Perrache station, or to your stand at Eurexpo. Going on to Annecy, Grenoble, Geneva or the ski resorts of the Alps? Enter the address in the booking form: when a vehicle is available for that route, the price shows before you pay; if it does not, contact us before you fly.

Lyon Airport Shuttle

Our Lyon airport shuttle is a private van for your party only, not a shared coach that stops at other hotels on the way. It leaves as soon as you are through arrivals, with room for suitcases, skis and boot bags, and suits families, business travelers heading to Part-Dieu or Eurexpo, and groups traveling together.

Landing at Lyon Airport

Lyon Saint-Exupéry Airport (LYS) is the main airport for Lyon and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, in Colombier-Saugnieu, southeast of the city. Since 1 April 2026 all flights use Terminal 1, including its satellite with the D gates; Terminal 2 has closed and no reopening date has been announced, so there is one arrivals hall.

Flights from other Schengen countries arrive without passport checks. From outside the Schengen area, including the UK, North Africa and Canada, you pass border police before baggage claim, where EU, EEA and Swiss citizens with biometric passports can often use the PARAFE automated gates. Skis and other large sports equipment usually come out at a separate oversized-baggage point. After customs you come out into the Terminal 1 arrivals hall, where pre-booked drivers meet passengers.

France is on Central European Time (UTC+1) and switches to UTC+2 for daylight saving time from late March to late October. It uses the euro.

Entry requirements and local notes

Schengen entry. France is in the Schengen area. Non-EU travelers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), fully operational since 10 April 2026; the planned ETIAS travel authorization is not yet in operation. Check the visa rules for your nationality before you fly.

One terminal for now. Terminal 2 has been closed since April 2026, so every flight arrives at Terminal 1, even if an older booking or website still shows Terminal 2.

Vieux Lyon streets. Many streets in Vieux Lyon and on the slopes of the Croix-Rousse are narrow or pedestrian, so give your full address; your driver stops at the nearest point a car can reach.

Euro and cards. France uses the euro, and cards and contactless payments are accepted almost everywhere.

Lyon Airport Transportation FAQs

Where will my driver meet me at Lyon Airport?

In the Terminal 1 arrivals hall, holding a sign with your name, after baggage claim and customs. All flights currently arrive at Terminal 1. If you have skis or other bulky equipment, collect it from the oversized-baggage point first.

How far is Lyon Airport from the city center?

Lyon Saint-Exupéry Airport is in Colombier-Saugnieu, about 20 km (12 miles) southeast of Lyon city center.

Is Terminal 2 open at Lyon Airport?

No. Terminal 2 closed on 1 April 2026 and all flights moved to Terminal 1, including the satellite with the D gates. No reopening date has been announced, so your driver meets you at Terminal 1.

Can you take me to Part-Dieu or Perrache station?

Yes. We drive you straight to Lyon Part-Dieu or Lyon Perrache. Give us your train time when you book, so the pickup leaves a comfortable margin.

Can you take me to Vieux Lyon or the Presqu'île?

Yes. We drive door to door to hotels and apartments on the Presqu'île, around Place Bellecour and the Opéra, and in Vieux Lyon across the Saône. Where a street is pedestrian, your driver stops at the nearest point a car can reach.

Can you take me to Eurexpo?

Yes. Eurexpo, Lyon's exhibition center, is in Chassieu on the east side of the city. Give the hall or entrance you need when you book, and we drive you to the gate.

Can you take me to Annecy, Grenoble or Geneva?

Annecy and Grenoble are in the French Alps, and Geneva is across the border in Switzerland. Enter the address in the booking form: when a vehicle is available for that route, the price shows before you pay; if it does not, contact us before you fly.

Can you take me to the ski resorts in the Alps?

Tignes, Val d'Isère and Val Thorens are high in the Alps of Savoie, and in winter snow can slow the mountain roads. Enter the address in the booking form: when a vehicle is available for that route, the price shows before you pay; if it does not, contact us before you fly.

Do you drive to apartments and vacation rentals in Lyon?

Yes. Give the full street address, the apartment number and any entrance or door code details, so your driver can drop you at the right door.

Is there a tram or train from Lyon Airport?

Yes. The Rhônexpress tram runs from the airport to Lyon Part-Dieu, and the airport's own TGV station has direct high-speed trains to Paris and Marseille. A private transfer is easier with luggage or skis, for addresses away from Part-Dieu, or when you would rather go door to door.

What do I need to enter France at Lyon Airport?

France is in the Schengen area, so flights from other Schengen countries arrive without passport checks, and arrivals from outside it go through border police. Non-EU travelers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), fully operational since 10 April 2026; the planned ETIAS travel authorization is not yet in operation. Check the visa rules for your nationality before you fly.

What happens if my flight to Lyon is delayed?

We monitor the flight on your reservation, so your driver at Lyon Airport waits for the actual landing. If your flight number, date or airline changes, or your flight is cancelled, tell customer service so the pickup can be moved.

Can I book a ride back to Lyon Airport?

Yes. Book a one-way departure or a round trip from your hotel, apartment or office. Give your flight number and departure time so the pickup is set for check-in and security at Terminal 1.
