Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM) sits in Mumbai's northern suburbs, between Vile Parle, Santacruz and Andheri. Its two terminals are on opposite sides of the airfield: Terminal 1 in Santacruz handles domestic flights, and Terminal 2 in Sahar handles all international flights plus many domestic ones. It is a separate airport from Navi Mumbai International (NMI), so check the code on your ticket.
International flights arrive at Terminal 2. Travelers on an e-Visa have their fingerprints and photo taken at the immigration counter, so expect queues at busy times. After immigration, collect your bags and pass through customs into the arrivals area, then follow the signs to the ground transportation hub on Level 1. Domestic arrivals at Terminal 1 go straight to the baggage belts and out to the forecourt.
Mumbai runs on India Standard Time (UTC+5:30) all year, with no daylight saving time. It is warm and humid year-round, with heavy monsoon rain from June to September.
e-Arrival Card and visa: Foreign nationals and OCI cardholders must submit India's online e-Arrival Card within 72 hours before arrival; it replaced the paper disembarkation card in 2026. Most visitors also need a visa, and citizens of many countries can apply online for an e-Visa at least four days before travel.
BOM or NMI: Mumbai now has a second airport, Navi Mumbai International (NMI). This page books pickups at BOM only, so check the airport code on your ticket.
Terminal changes: Part of Terminal 1 is due to be rebuilt in phases from January 2027, and some flights are moving to Terminal 2 or to NMI. Send us your flight number and confirm your terminal shortly before you travel.
Monsoon season: Heavy rain from June to September can slow road traffic, so allow extra time on return trips to the airport in those months.
