Samos International Airport "Aristarchos of Samos" (SMI) is on the south coast of Samos in the eastern Aegean, close to the harbor town of Pythagoreio. Fraport Greece runs the airport. All flights use a single terminal on two floors, with six gates and no jet bridges, so you walk or take a bus from the aircraft.
Flights from Athens and other Schengen countries arrive without passport checks. Passengers from outside the Schengen area, for example from the UK, queue at passport control. The terminal is small, so baggage claim is quick. Once you have your bags, head outside, where pre-booked drivers meet passengers.
Most international routes run in summer. Greece is on Eastern European Time (UTC+2) and switches to UTC+3 for daylight saving time from late March to late October.
Schengen entry. Greece is in the Schengen area. Non-EU travelers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), fully operational since 10 April 2026; the planned ETIAS travel authorization is not yet in operation. Check the visa rules for your nationality before you fly.
Summer winds. Strong northerly meltemi winds can occasionally delay flights in summer. If your flight changes, tell us the new time so we can move your pickup.
Village addresses. Many villas and village houses have no street number, so give the house name, the village and a map pin or the owner's directions.
Euro and cash. Greece uses the euro; carry some cash for small purchases.
