Zagreb Franjo Tuđman Airport (ZAG) is in Velika Gorica, a separate town just southeast of Zagreb, and is the hub of Croatia Airlines. All flights use a single passenger terminal, opened in 2017, with arrivals on the ground floor and departures on the first floor.
From outside the Schengen Area you pass passport control before baggage claim; flights from Schengen countries arrive without passport checks, since Croatia joined Schengen in 2023. Baggage claim is on the ground floor, and after customs you walk into the arrivals hall.
Zagreb is on Central European Time (UTC+1) and switches to summer time (UTC+2) from late March to late October.
Schengen entry. Croatia has been in the Schengen Area since 2023. Non-EU travelers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), fully operational since 10 April 2026; the planned ETIAS travel authorization is not yet in operation. Check the visa rules for your nationality before you fly.
Euro, not kuna. Croatia has used the euro since January 2023, and the Croatian kuna is no longer accepted.
Airport in Velika Gorica. The airport is in the town of Velika Gorica rather than in Zagreb itself, so give us the full address of where you are staying, not just the city.
Long road trips. Plitvice Lakes, Zadar and Split are long drives from Zagreb. Book the right vehicle size for your party and luggage, and plan your return pickup around your flight time.
