General José María Yáñez International Airport, known as Guaymas International Airport (GYM), serves Guaymas and the nearby resort area of San Carlos on the Sea of Cortez in Sonora, Mexico. It sits about 6 km south of Guaymas and is run by the federal airport agency, Aeropuertos y Servicios Auxiliares (ASA).
Airline service is very limited. The only scheduled flights are regional ones by Aéreo Servicio Guerrero to Loreto and Guerrero Negro in Baja California Sur. The airport handled fewer than 8,000 passengers in 2025, and past routes to Mexico City, Guadalajara, Phoenix, Tucson and Los Angeles have ended. Most travelers to Guaymas and San Carlos fly into Hermosillo and continue by road.
The airport has one small, single-story terminal with check-in, security, baggage claim and an arrivals hall with car rental, taxi stands and shops. The departure concourse has two gates, and passengers walk across the apron to the aircraft. A naval air base shares the airfield, and the airport officially operates from 7:00 to 19:00.

Guaymas has one small terminal, and you walk across the apron from the aircraft to the building.
Scheduled flights here are regional and domestic, so you go straight to baggage claim without passing immigration. Collect your bags and walk into the arrivals hall.
The arrivals hall has car rental counters, taxi stands and a few shops. Flights are few, so arrange your ride before you land: a pre-booked transfer, a taxi or a rental car. If you booked a transfer, your driver waits for you in the arrivals hall or just outside the terminal doors.
The airport operates from 7:00 to 19:00. Guaymas uses Mountain Standard Time, one hour behind Mexico City, and does not change its clocks.
A pre-booked driver meets you in the arrivals hall and takes you to Guaymas or San Carlos. It suits families and anyone with luggage or fishing gear.
Taxis wait at the stands in the arrivals hall. Confirm the destination before you set off.
Rental counters are in the arrivals hall. Useful for getting around Guaymas, San Carlos and the coast.

Request wheelchair or mobility assistance through your airline when you book, and confirm it at least 48 hours before you fly.
Passengers walk across the apron and board small aircraft by stairs, so tell your airline in advance if you need help.
Rules for service and emotional support animals are set by each airline, so check with yours before you travel and carry the required documents.
Airline staff meet passengers who requested assistance at the aircraft and accompany them to baggage claim and the arrivals hall.
Parking is available at the terminal for drop-offs, pickups and longer stays.
Only one: Aéreo Servicio Guerrero, a regional airline, flies from Guaymas to Loreto and Guerrero Negro in Baja California Sur. Earlier routes to Mexico City, Guadalajara, Phoenix, Tucson and Los Angeles have ended, so most travelers to Guaymas and San Carlos now fly into Hermosillo.
Guaymas airport is the closest to San Carlos, but it only has regional flights to Loreto and Guerrero Negro. Most travelers fly into Hermosillo, which has more routes, and continue to San Carlos by road with a pre-booked transfer or rental car.
Guaymas International Airport is about 6 km south of Guaymas. Travelers reach the city and nearby San Carlos by pre-booked transfer, taxi from the stands in the arrivals hall or rental car.
Guaymas International Airport officially operates from 7:00 to 19:00 local time, Mountain Standard Time. Flights are scheduled within those hours, so plan your ride from the airport around your flight's arrival time.
Guaymas airport uses Mountain Standard Time (UTC−7), one hour behind Mexico City. Sonora does not change its clocks for daylight saving time, so it matches Arizona all year.
