Also known as: Reno Airport, Reno Tahoe Airport, RNO Airport. Formerly Cannon International Airport, Hubbard Field.
RNO · KRNO · Reno
Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) is the main airport for Reno, Sparks and the Lake Tahoe region in northern Nevada, in the United States. It handled about 4.9 million passengers in 2025, its busiest year since 2008.
Eleven airlines serve Reno. Southwest flies the most routes, mainly to California, Las Vegas, Phoenix and Denver, while United, Delta, American and Alaska connect Reno with their hubs in San Francisco, Denver, Chicago, Salt Lake City, Atlanta, Dallas/Fort Worth, Phoenix and Seattle. Volaris flies to Guadalajara, the airport's international route.
All flights use one terminal, with a central security checkpoint leading to the B and C concourses. A multi-year program called MoreRNO is rebuilding the airport, and two new concourses are planned to replace B and C by late 2029.
The airport sits about 3 miles southeast of downtown Reno, beside Interstate 580, so the casinos and the Riverwalk are a short drive away and Sparks lies just to the east. Many travelers continue into the Sierra Nevada: to Incline Village and the North Shore over the Mount Rose Highway, to Truckee and Palisades Tahoe along Interstate 80, or south to Carson City, Stateline and South Lake Tahoe.

Most flights into Reno are domestic, so you walk off the plane, through the concourse and down to baggage claim with no passport check. If you arrive on the Volaris flight from Guadalajara, you go straight from the aircraft into the U.S. Customs and Border Protection facility next to the main terminal for immigration and customs before entering the airport.
Baggage claim is on the ground floor, where the rental car counters are as well; rental cars are collected in the parking garage just outside. Taxis, rideshare, Lake Tahoe shuttles, hotel shuttles and pre-arranged pickups all leave from the ground transportation loop outside Door D, north of baggage claim. The South Tahoe Airporter has its counter near Door B, behind the National Car Rental counter.
Reno sits at about 4,400 feet, and Lake Tahoe is higher still, so drink water and take it easy on your first day. Nevada is on Pacific Time.
A private transfer or a Lake Tahoe shuttle suits most travelers headed to the lake; taxis, rideshare and casino shuttles cover Reno and Sparks.
A pre-booked car meets you at the ground transportation loop outside Door D and goes door to door to Reno, Sparks or Lake Tahoe. It suits families, ski groups with gear and late arrivals.
The North Lake Tahoe Express leaves from outside Door D and should be booked at least 24 hours ahead; the South Tahoe Airporter has its counter near Door B. Both run on set schedules with stops for other passengers.
Taxis wait outside the D Doors, north of baggage claim. Downtown Reno is a short ride, but a taxi to Lake Tahoe is a long trip on mountain roads.
Follow the signs to the ground transportation loop outside Door D and cross to the shelter at the far end. Cars can be scarce for trips up to the lake.
Several Reno and Sparks hotels, including the Atlantis, Grand Sierra Resort, Peppermill, Nugget and The Row, run free shuttles from Door D. Contact your hotel for its schedule.
The city bus stops at Terminal Way and Villanova Drive, a short walk north of baggage claim, and runs to downtown's 4th Street Station seven days a week. It is the cheapest option but slow with luggage.

Reno-Tahoe International Airport is about 3 miles southeast of downtown Reno, beside Interstate 580, so the drive to the casinos and the Riverwalk usually takes around 10 minutes. Sparks is just to the east. Taxis, rideshare, casino hotel shuttles and pre-booked cars leave from outside Door D, and RTC bus Route 12 runs to downtown's 4th Street Station.
Incline Village, on Lake Tahoe's North Shore, is about 35 miles from the airport over the Mount Rose Highway, roughly 45 minutes to an hour in good weather. Truckee is about 35 miles west on Interstate 80, and South Lake Tahoe is about 60 miles south, often 75 to 90 minutes. Winter storms and chain controls can add a lot of time.
Not quite. Reno-Tahoe International (RNO) is the airport with airline flights for the whole Lake Tahoe region, and most visitors to the lake fly into it. Lake Tahoe Airport (TVL) is a separate, much smaller airport in South Lake Tahoe, California, used mainly by private and charter aircraft. Check the code on your ticket.
Reno has one terminal. A central security checkpoint leads to two concourses: the B Concourse, gates B1 to B11, used by most airlines, and the C Concourse, gates C1 to C12, used mainly by Southwest. Every arriving passenger exits to the same baggage claim, and ground transportation leaves from outside Door D.
Eleven airlines serve Reno. Southwest flies the most routes, to California, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Denver and Nashville. United, Delta, American and Alaska fly to their hubs, including San Francisco, Denver, Chicago, Salt Lake City, Atlanta, Dallas/Fort Worth and Seattle. Frontier, JetBlue, Sun Country, JSX and Volaris add more routes, some of them seasonal.
Yes, a few. Volaris flies nonstop between Reno and Guadalajara, Mexico. Passengers arriving on it go straight from the aircraft into the U.S. Customs and Border Protection facility next to the main terminal. Every other route is domestic, so most international visitors reach Reno by connecting through a US hub such as San Francisco, Denver or Los Angeles.
Most travelers take a private transfer, a scheduled shuttle or a rental car. The North Lake Tahoe Express leaves from outside Door D and needs booking at least 24 hours ahead, and the South Tahoe Airporter has its counter near Door B. Rental cars are collected in the garage just outside baggage claim; in winter, carry chains or have a four-wheel-drive vehicle.
Taxis wait outside the D Doors, just north of baggage claim. For Uber and Lyft, follow the signs to the ground transportation loop outside Door D, then cross at the crosswalk to the shelter at the far end. Hotel shuttles, limousines and pre-arranged pickups use the same loop.
Yes. Several casino hotels run free shuttles from outside Door D, including the Atlantis, Grand Sierra Resort, Peppermill, Nugget Casino Resort and The Row (Circus Circus, Eldorado and Silver Legacy). Each sets its own hours and frequency, so check with your hotel before you land, especially for an early or late flight.
Yes. The Escape Lounge is in the central corridor between the B and C concourses, past security. Any traveler can pay to enter, and American Express Platinum Card Members and eligible Delta SkyMiles Reserve cardholders get in free. It usually opens at 4:30 a.m. and closes in the evening, so check its hours before you fly.
The airport has a Short-Term Garage closest to the terminal, a Long-Term Garage linked by an enclosed skywalk, a Long-Term Surface Lot and the lower-priced Park & Walk Lot on Aviation Way, about 10 to 15 minutes' walk away. Drivers collecting arriving passengers can wait free in the Free Waiting Lot, about four minutes from the terminal.
Yes. As at other Nevada airports, slot machines are part of the terminal, on its second floor. You must be 21 or older to gamble. The concourses also have restaurants, bars and shops, including a Reno Drafthouse and a Vino Volo on the B Concourse and Tap & Pour on the C Concourse.
Yes. Under a multi-year program called MoreRNO, the airport finished a larger ticketing hall in 2024 and has started work on a new ground transportation center and other facilities. Two new, larger concourses are planned to replace the current B and C concourses, with completion expected by late 2029. Follow the airport's signs, as walkways may change during construction.
