About Vilnius Čiurlionis International Airport

Vilnius Čiurlionis International Airport (VNO), usually called Vilnius Airport, is the main gateway to Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. airBaltic, Ryanair and Wizz Air all have bases here and connect Vilnius with cities across Europe, from Riga, Tallinn and Warsaw to London, Paris, Barcelona and Dublin. LOT, Lufthansa, Finnair, SAS, Norwegian, Swiss, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines and Turkish Airlines link the city with their hubs, and flydubai flies to Dubai. In summer, charter flights add Mediterranean and Red Sea holiday routes.

Passengers use two connected buildings: the Departures Terminal, extended with a new two-story departures building in February 2025, and the historic Arrivals Terminal, where every arriving flight comes out.

The airport sits in the Naujininkai district, about 5.9 km south of the city center. The drive to the Old Town usually takes 15 to 20 minutes, and an airport train reaches Vilnius Railway Station in up to 8 minutes.

From the airport, travelers head to the Old Town around Cathedral Square and Gediminas' Tower, the artists' quarter of Užupis, the business district around Europa Tower north of the Neris River, and further out to Trakai and Kaunas.

Arrival tips for Vilnius Čiurlionis International Airport

After you leave the aircraft, follow the signs for arrivals. If your flight comes from inside the Schengen area, such as Riga, Warsaw, Frankfurt or Helsinki, there is no passport control. Flights from outside the Schengen area, such as London, Dublin, Istanbul or Dubai, go through passport control first, where non-EU citizens are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System; families with children up to 6 and passengers with reduced mobility can use the priority lane.

Collect your bags at baggage claim, then pass customs into the arrivals hall of the Arrivals Terminal. If you arrive from outside the EU, meat, milk and most other animal products may not be brought in, and cash over EUR 10,000 must be declared.

Outside the Arrivals Terminal, taxis wait in a line by the door, Bolt picks up from its own zone next to the intercity bus stops, and the Airport Railway Stop is a two-minute walk away. Lithuania is on Eastern European Time (UTC+2, UTC+3 in summer) and uses the euro.

Ground transportation

The train and buses suit light travelers heading to the center during the day, while taxis, Bolt and pre-booked transfers work around the clock.

  • Taxi from Vilnius Airport

Taxis wait in the line just outside the Arrivals Terminal and take cash or cards; official airport taxis show approved-tariff stickers inside. The ride to the Old Town usually takes 15 to 20 minutes.

  • Bolt

Bolt pickups use a dedicated zone next to the intercity bus stops, a short walk from arrivals. Book in the app once you have your bags.

  • Airport train

LTG Link trains run from the Airport Railway Stop, two minutes' walk from arrivals, to Vilnius Railway Station in up to 8 minutes. Trains from the airport run only from about 07:10 to 19:20 and not very often, so check the timetable.

  • City bus 88, 3G, 1 and 2

Bus 88 runs through the city center to Europa Square and express bus 3G through the center to Fabijoniškės; buses 1 and 2 go to the railway station area, and night bus 88N runs from about 22:30 to 05:30. Tap a contactless card on board or use the Trafi app; buses are slower with large bags.

  • Car rental

Enterprise, Europcar, Sixt, Hertz and Carwiz hand over and take back cars in the P4 multi-story parking garage.

  • Private transfer

A pre-booked driver meets you at arrivals and drives straight to your hotel in Vilnius, Trakai, Kaunas or elsewhere. It suits families, late arrivals and travelers with luggage.
