Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) is 10 km north of San José del Cabo, near the southern tip of Baja California Sur. International flights arrive at Terminal 2, where immigration, baggage claim and customs are on the ground floor; domestic flights use Terminal 1, a separate single-storey building with its own baggage claim.
After customs, international passengers walk through a corridor of timeshare and tour sellers, often called the "shark tank", before reaching the exit doors. Lines at immigration build up in the winter high season.
Los Cabos runs on Mountain Standard Time (UTC−7) all year, one hour behind Mexico City, so set pickup times in local time.
Entry requirements and local notes
Give the exact area. Los Cabos covers San José del Cabo, the Tourist Corridor, Cabo San Lucas and gated communities such as Pedregal, Palmilla and Querencia, and they are priced differently. Add the resort or villa name and any gate instructions so the driver is let in.
Don't book in the sales corridor. Sellers after customs may present themselves as transport desks. If you have a booking, keep walking to the exit and don't hand over your reservation details.
Entry and money. International visitors need a valid passport. Mexican pesos are the local currency, and U.S. dollars are widely accepted in Los Cabos.
