Los Cabos International Airport is the main airport for the Los Cabos region, at the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula. It is about 10 km north of San José del Cabo, and Cabo San Lucas is roughly 40–45 minutes away by road along the Tourist Corridor.
Operated by Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP), SJD was Mexico's sixth-busiest airport in 2025, with about 7.5 million passengers. Most international traffic comes from the United States and Canada, and Viva uses the airport as a focus city.
The airport has two passenger terminals: Terminal 1 for domestic flights and Terminal 2 for international flights. GAP plans to expand Terminal 2 and eventually bring domestic and international flights together in one terminal, with the expansion expected around late 2027.
Confirm your terminal with your airline before leaving your hotel, because domestic and international flights use separate buildings. Allow extra time for traffic along the corridor, airline check-in and security, particularly during holidays and the winter high season.
Los Cabos International Airport is operated by Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP). It has a single asphalt runway.
Approximately 3,000 metres (9,843 feet).
Approximately 7.5 million, ranking sixth in Mexico. Passenger totals change annually and should be checked against GAP's latest traffic report.
From Los Cabos Airport, you can access several popular destinations, each with its own charm and travel time:
Terminals 1 and 2 are separate buildings. If your trip involves changing terminals, allow extra time to collect baggage, clear immigration or customs and check in again. Always confirm your arrival and departure terminals with the operating airline.
Terminal assignments and seasonal schedules can change, so the airline's boarding pass, app or confirmation should always be treated as the final source.
Handles domestic and regional flights. A single-storey building with eight ground-level gates and a VIP lounge on the mezzanine level.
Handles international flights, mainly from the United States and Canada. A two-storey building with 19 gates, nine of them with jet bridges, along a 400-metre departures concourse.
ATMs and currency-exchange counters are available. Before accepting a conversion offered by an ATM or card terminal, check the displayed exchange rate and fees.
Restaurants, cafés, bars and shops are concentrated in the departure areas. Terminal 2 has a central food court and duty-free shopping after security.
For baggage that does not arrive or is damaged, contact the operating airline's baggage-service desk before leaving the terminal.
Each terminal has a VIP lounge: in Terminal 1 on the mezzanine level, and in Terminal 2 after security near the central food court.
Access may be available through an eligible premium ticket, lounge membership, credit-card programme or paid entry, subject to capacity. Hours, prices and access rules should be verified directly with the lounge before departure.
Passengers who need wheelchair service or other assistance should request it from their airline when booking, or at least 48 hours before departure whenever possible. Assistance is arranged mainly by the airline and its ground-handling company.
Travellers using mobility equipment, travelling with a service animal or needing help through security should confirm documentation and handling requirements with the airline in advance. On arrival, let the cabin crew know before leaving the aircraft if assistance has been requested.
Public parking is available at the terminal. Tariffs, payment methods and long-stay conditions can change, so check the posted rate board on entry and keep your parking ticket safe.
The IATA code is SJD and the ICAO code is MMSD.
