Calgary International Airport (YYC) is northeast of downtown Calgary, and the Calgary Airport Authority runs it. One connected building holds two terminals: the Domestic Terminal, with concourses A, B and C, and the International Terminal, with Concourse D for international flights and Concourse E for flights to the United States.
If you arrive from outside Canada, you clear Canadian border services in the International Terminal, using Advance Declaration in the ArriveCAN app or the border kiosks, then a border officer. After baggage claim, international and US arrivals exit through customs into the International Terminal arrivals area; domestic arrivals go straight from baggage claim to arrivals in the Domestic Terminal. Pre-booked drivers meet passengers on the arrivals level.
Calgary, Banff and Lake Louise are on Mountain Time and change their clocks for daylight saving. Canada uses the Canadian dollar.
Entry requirements and local notes
eTA or visa. Most visitors from visa-exempt countries need an approved Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) before flying to Canada; US citizens do not. Travelers from other countries may need a visa, so check the Government of Canada's requirements for your passport.
Parks Canada pass. Everyone stopping in Banff National Park, including the towns of Banff and Lake Louise, needs a Parks Canada pass, also when arriving by private transfer. Buy a daily pass or a Discovery Pass online before you travel. Canmore is outside the park and needs no pass.
Moraine Lake Road. Moraine Lake Road is closed to personal vehicles; visitors reach the lake on the Parks Canada shuttle, Roam Transit or commercial tours.
US preclearance on the way home. Flights to the United States clear US immigration and customs at YYC before boarding, so allow for it when you book your ride back to the airport.
