Brussels South Charleroi Airport (CRL) is in Gosselies, on the northern edge of Charleroi, and is a different airport from Brussels Airport (BRU) at Zaventem. It has two terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, about five minutes apart on foot; flights are assigned to either one, so check which terminal yours uses.
Flights from other Schengen countries arrive without passport checks; from outside the Schengen area, including the UK and Morocco, you line up at passport control. After baggage claim you walk through customs into the arrivals area, where pre-booked drivers meet passengers.
Belgium is on Central European Time (UTC+1) and switches to UTC+2 for daylight saving time from late March to late October. It uses the euro.
Schengen entry. Belgium is in the Schengen area. Non-EU travelers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), fully operational since 10 April 2026. Check the visa rules for your nationality before you fly.
Charleroi, not Zaventem. Airlines sell this airport as Brussels Charleroi or Brussels South, but it is not Brussels Airport (BRU), so check the code on your ticket and give us the right airport.
Two languages. Brussels is officially bilingual, so many streets carry both a French and a Dutch name; give your full address with the postal code so your driver finds it straight away.
Strike days. Belgium holds national strike and demonstration days from time to time, and flights at Charleroi have been canceled on some of them, so check with your airline if one is announced.
