Airport Transportation in Dusseldorf

Pre-booked private transportation takes you directly from Düsseldorf Airport to your hotel, resort or vacation rental.

After immigration, baggage claim and customs, continue outside the terminal to the meeting area named in your confirmation. Your vehicle is reserved only for the passengers on your reservation: unlike a shared shuttle, it makes no extra hotel stops for other travelers, and the price is per vehicle, not per person.

Our airport transportation in Düsseldorf takes you from Lohausen to hotels and apartments in the Altstadt, along the Königsallee and in the MedienHafen, to the Messe Düsseldorf trade fair grounds, and on to Neuss, Ratingen, Duisburg, Essen and Cologne.

Dusseldorf Airport Transfers

Dusseldorf airport transfers start on the public arrivals level of the terminal, where your driver waits with a name sign after baggage claim and customs. We track your flight, so the pickup follows your real landing time, and the price is fixed per vehicle and agreed before you fly, from a sedan for two to a van for a family, a team or trade fair visitors with luggage.

Each transfer goes door to door to your hotel, apartment or office in Düsseldorf, to the Messe, or to Cologne, Duisburg and Essen. Going farther, to Bonn, Dortmund or across the border to the Netherlands? Enter your address in the booking form: when a vehicle is available for that route, the price shows before you pay; if it does not, contact us before you fly.

Dusseldorf Airport Shuttle

Our Dusseldorf airport shuttle is a private van for your party only, not a shared bus or train with stops along the way. It leaves as soon as you have your bags, with room for suitcases, sample cases and strollers, and suits families, groups and colleagues heading to the same fair or meeting.

Landing at Dusseldorf Airport

Düsseldorf Airport (DUS) is in the Lohausen district, north of the city, and Flughafen Düsseldorf GmbH runs it. It is one terminal building with three piers, signposted as Terminals A, B and C: Lufthansa, Eurowings and other Star Alliance airlines use A, SkyTeam, Oneworld, Condor and TUI fly use B, and non-Schengen flights by airlines such as Emirates and Etihad use C.

Flights from other Schengen countries arrive without passport checks; from outside the Schengen area you go through passport control, where EU citizens can use EasyPASS gates. Bags usually start arriving on the belt 20 to 40 minutes after the aircraft parks. You then pass customs into the public arrivals level, where pre-booked drivers meet passengers and the airport's meeting point is beside the information desk between Arrivals 2 and 3.

Germany is on Central European Time (UTC+1) and switches to UTC+2 for daylight saving time from late March to late October. It uses the euro.

Entry requirements and local notes

Schengen entry. Germany is in the Schengen area. Non-EU travelers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), fully operational since 10 April 2026; the planned ETIAS travel authorization is not yet in operation. Check the visa rules for your nationality before you fly.

Düsseldorf, not Weeze. Weeze Airport (NRN) is sometimes sold as Düsseldorf Weeze but is a separate airport near the Dutch border. This page is for Düsseldorf Airport (DUS), so check the code on your ticket.

Trade fair weeks. During large fairs at Messe Düsseldorf, such as boot in January and MEDICA in November, roads around the airport and the fair grounds are much busier, so give your pickup time some margin.

Altstadt and Carnival. Many Altstadt lanes are pedestrian, and on Carnival days, especially Rose Monday, central streets close for parades, so give your full address; your driver stops at the nearest point a car can reach.

Dusseldorf Airport Transportation FAQs

Where will my driver meet me at Düsseldorf Airport?

On the public arrivals level of the terminal, holding a sign with your name, after baggage claim and customs. If you cannot see your driver, the airport's meeting point beside the information desk between Arrivals 2 and 3 is an easy landmark.

How far is Düsseldorf Airport from the city and the main areas?

The airport is about 7 km (4 miles) north of downtown Düsseldorf, usually 15 to 25 minutes by car, and the Messe is closer still. Duisburg is about 15 km away and Essen about 30 km, while Cologne is roughly 60 km (37 miles), usually under an hour outside rush hour.

Can you take me to Messe Düsseldorf?

Yes. We drive you to the trade fair grounds, to the entrance your fair uses, and to hotels around the Messe. During big fairs, book early and give us your hall or entrance.

Can you take me to Cologne?

Yes. We drive door to door to hotels, offices and homes in Cologne, including the city center and the Koelnmesse fair grounds.

Can you take me to Duisburg, Essen or other Ruhr cities?

Yes for Duisburg and Essen, door to door to your hotel, office or home. For Dortmund, Bochum and other cities farther into the Ruhr, enter your address in the booking form: when a vehicle is available for that route, the price shows before you pay; if it does not, contact us before you fly.

Can you take me to Bonn, Aachen or the Netherlands?

Bonn and Aachen are farther south and west, and the Dutch border is beyond them. Enter your address in the booking form: when a vehicle is available for that route, the price shows before you pay; if it does not, contact us before you fly.

Which terminal will I arrive at in Düsseldorf?

Düsseldorf has one terminal building with piers A, B and C, and all arrivals exit to the same public arrivals level. Give us your flight number when you book, and your driver meets you there whichever pier your plane uses.

Do you drive to apartments and vacation rentals?

Yes. Give the full street address, the apartment number and any entrance details. Where the street is pedestrian, as in parts of the Altstadt, your driver stops at the nearest point a car can reach.

Can I book a pickup for a late-night or early-morning flight?

Yes. Give your flight number and landing or departure time when you book, and the pickup is set for that time, including flights that land after the trains have stopped for the night.

Should I buy transportation from people offering rides inside Düsseldorf Airport?

There is no need. Booking ahead gives you a confirmed vehicle and a meeting point before you land. If someone approaches you in arrivals, check the company name against your confirmation before getting in.

What happens if my flight is delayed or canceled?

We monitor the flight on your reservation, so your driver waits for the actual landing. If your flight number, date or airline changes, or your flight is canceled, tell customer service so the pickup can be moved.

Can I book a ride back to Düsseldorf Airport?

Yes. Book a one-way departure or a round trip from your hotel, apartment or the Messe, and give your flight number and departure time, so the pickup is set for check-in and security.

Is this page for Düsseldorf Weeze?

No. This page books rides from Düsseldorf Airport (DUS) in Lohausen. Weeze Airport (NRN), sometimes sold as Düsseldorf Weeze, is a separate airport near the Dutch border, so check the code on your ticket.

What do I need to enter Germany at Düsseldorf Airport?

Germany is in the Schengen area, so flights from other Schengen countries arrive without passport checks, and arrivals from outside it go through passport control.
