Terminal A
Pier A, used by Lufthansa, Eurowings and other Star Alliance airlines such as Austrian, Swiss, SAS, LOT, TAP and Croatia Airlines.
Also known as: Dusseldorf Airport, DUS Airport, Flughafen Düsseldorf. Formerly Düsseldorf International Airport, Rhein-Ruhr Airport.
DUS · EDDL · Düsseldorf
Düsseldorf Airport (DUS) is the main airport for Düsseldorf, the capital of North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany, and for much of the Rhine-Ruhr region around it. It handled about 21 million passengers in 2025, which makes it the busiest airport in the state.
Eurowings is the largest airline here, with routes across Europe and to North Africa and the Middle East, and Lufthansa links Düsseldorf with Frankfurt and Munich. Leisure airlines such as Condor, TUI fly, SunExpress, Corendon and Pegasus fly to the Canary Islands, the Balearics, Greece, Turkey and Egypt, while Emirates, Etihad and Qatar Airways connect the city with the Gulf.
The terminal is one building with three piers, A, B and C, joined by a central hall. The SkyTrain links it with Düsseldorf Flughafen station, where long-distance and regional trains stop, and the S11 and U80 lines stop right below the terminal.
The airport stands in the Lohausen district, about 7 km north of downtown Düsseldorf, beside the A44 highway. The Altstadt, the Königsallee, the MedienHafen and the Messe Düsseldorf trade fair grounds are a short drive away, Duisburg is about 15 km north, and Essen about 30 km northeast. Many travelers also continue to Neuss, Ratingen, Krefeld or Cologne.

If you arrive from outside the Schengen area, you go through passport control first. EU citizens can use the EasyPASS gates, and non-EU travelers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES). Flights from other Schengen countries arrive without passport checks.
Baggage claim usually starts 20 to 40 minutes after your aircraft parks, and the screens at the belt show the carousel number and where bulky items such as strollers and sports equipment come out. Baggage carts are at every carousel. Report missing or damaged bags at the Lost & Found counter before you leave the baggage area, then pass through customs into the public arrivals level.
The arrivals level has shops, cafés, a Rewe supermarket and the car rental desks. The airport's meeting point is next to the information desk between Arrivals 2 and 3. Taxis wait at the signposted taxi stands, buses leave from the main arrivals hall, and the S11 and U80 trains stop at Flughafen Terminal station below the building. For long-distance trains, take the SkyTrain to Düsseldorf Flughafen station.
Trains are quick into central Düsseldorf; a taxi or pre-booked car is easier with luggage, late at night or for addresses away from the stations.
The U80 runs from Flughafen Terminal station below Terminal C to Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof in about 18 minutes, about every 20 minutes and every 30 minutes off-peak and on Sundays.
The S11 leaves from Flughafen Terminal station below the terminal and runs via Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof toward Neuss, Cologne and Bergisch Gladbach.
Take the SkyTrain, about seven minutes, to the long-distance station, where regional trains and ICE high-speed trains stop for Cologne, Duisburg, Essen and the wider Ruhr area. Easy for one city stop, harder with lots of luggage.
Airport taxis wait at the signposted taxi stands on the arrivals and departures levels and go door to door anywhere in the city.
Line 721 runs from the main arrivals hall to Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof, and other lines serve Ratingen, Meerbusch and Kaarst; trips take longer than the train.
A pre-booked car meets you in the arrivals area, useful for families, groups, trade fair visitors and trips to Cologne or the Ruhr cities.

Piers A, B and C are joined by the central terminal hall, so you can walk between them on the departures level.
The free SkyTrain stops at Terminal A/B and Terminal C, running every 5 to 7 minutes from 3:45 to 0:45, and continues to the P4/P5 parking garages and Düsseldorf Flughafen station.
Düsseldorf has one terminal building, signposted as Terminals A, B and C after its three piers, with a shared arrivals level.
Pier A, used by Lufthansa, Eurowings and other Star Alliance airlines such as Austrian, Swiss, SAS, LOT, TAP and Croatia Airlines.
Pier B, used mainly by SkyTeam and Oneworld airlines such as Air France, KLM, British Airways, Finnair, Iberia and ITA Airways, and by the leisure airlines Condor and TUI fly.
Pier C, used for non-Schengen flights by airlines outside Star Alliance, including Emirates and Etihad, with the only stand able to take an Airbus A380.

Düsseldorf Airport is in the Lohausen district, about 7 km (4 miles) north of downtown Düsseldorf, beside the A44 highway. The U80 light rail reaches Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof in about 18 minutes, the S11 also runs to the main station, and taxis and pre-booked cars wait outside the terminal for door-to-door trips to the Altstadt or the Königsallee.
Düsseldorf has one terminal building with three piers, signposted as Terminals A, B and C and joined by a central hall. Lufthansa, Eurowings and Star Alliance airlines use A, SkyTeam, Oneworld and leisure airlines such as Condor and TUI fly use B, and non-Schengen flights by airlines such as Emirates and Etihad use C. All arrivals exit to the same public arrivals level.
Yes. The U80 light rail and the S11 S-Bahn stop at Flughafen Terminal station right below the terminal and run to Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof. For regional and ICE trains, take the SkyTrain for about seven minutes to Düsseldorf Flughafen station at the eastern edge of the airport, where trains continue to Cologne, Duisburg, Essen and beyond.
The SkyTrain is a free suspended monorail that links Terminal A/B and Terminal C with the P4/P5 parking garages and Düsseldorf Flughafen long-distance station. It runs every 5 to 7 minutes from about 3:45 to 0:45 and takes about seven minutes from the station to the terminal, so it is the way to reach ICE and regional trains.
The simplest way is a train from Düsseldorf Flughafen station, reached by the SkyTrain, where regional and ICE trains run to Cologne. The S11 from below the terminal also heads toward Cologne with more stops. A taxi or pre-booked car takes you door to door along the highway, which is easier with luggage or a group.
Duisburg is about 15 km north and Essen about 30 km northeast of the airport. Regional trains from Düsseldorf Flughafen station, reached by the SkyTrain, run to both cities and on through the Ruhr. A taxi or pre-booked car is the direct option to a hotel, an office or a home address away from the stations.
Airport taxis wait at signposted taxi stands on both the arrivals and the departures levels of the terminal. Licensed airport taxis go door to door to the city center, the Messe Düsseldorf trade fair grounds and nearby towns such as Neuss and Ratingen, and the airport lists guideline fares on its website.
No. Weeze Airport (NRN), sometimes sold as Düsseldorf Weeze, is a separate airport near the Dutch border, far from Düsseldorf. Düsseldorf Airport (DUS) is the city's own airport in Lohausen, about 7 km from the center. Check the three-letter code on your ticket before you plan your onward trip.
Germany is in the Schengen area, so flights from other Schengen countries arrive without passport checks, while arrivals from outside it go through passport control, where EU citizens can use EasyPASS gates. Non-EU travelers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), fully operational since 10 April 2026; the planned ETIAS travel authorization is not yet in operation.
Eurowings flies the most routes from Düsseldorf, across Europe and to North Africa and the Middle East. Lufthansa serves Frankfurt and Munich, leisure airlines such as Condor, TUI fly, SunExpress, Corendon and Pegasus fly to holiday destinations, and Emirates, Etihad and Qatar Airways link the city with Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Doha.
Yes. Lufthansa runs a Business Lounge and a Senator Lounge in Pier A, and Emirates has a lounge in Pier C. The airport's own DUS Rhein Lounge in Pier B and DUS Sky Lounge in Pier C are open to any passenger who books, daily from 5:00 to 21:00.
The left-luggage office is opposite the terminal on the first floor of parking garage P3, a short walk from arrivals. It is useful on a long layover, before a hotel check-in or when you visit the Messe Düsseldorf trade fair grounds. Missing or damaged bags are reported at the Lost & Found counter in the baggage area instead.
Flughafen Düsseldorf runs parking garages P1 to P8 and open parking lots P10 to P25. P3 stands opposite the terminal, and P4 and P5 have their own SkyTrain stop. Spaces can be booked ahead on the airport's website, which also offers license plate recognition at entry.
