Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ) is in Goffs, north of Halifax beside Highway 102, and the Halifax International Airport Authority runs it. All flights use one terminal, with check-in, security and the gates upstairs and baggage claim, the Ground Transportation booth and the curb on the arrivals level.
If you arrive from outside Canada, including from the United States, you clear Canadian border services before baggage claim, using the Advance Declaration in ArriveCAN or the border kiosks, then a border officer. Domestic passengers go straight to baggage claim. Everyone exits into the same arrivals area, where pre-booked drivers meet passengers.
Nova Scotia is on Atlantic Time, one hour ahead of Eastern Time, and changes its clocks for daylight saving. Canada uses the Canadian dollar.
Entry requirements and local notes
eTA or visa. Most visitors from visa-exempt countries need an approved Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) before flying to Canada; US citizens do not. Travelers from other countries may need a visa, so check the Government of Canada's requirements for your passport.
Advance Declaration. Halifax accepts the optional Advance Declaration in ArriveCAN, which you can fill in before landing to save time at the border kiosks.
Atlantic Time. Halifax is one hour ahead of Toronto, Montréal and New York, so check your pickup time against local time if you connect on the way.
US preclearance on the way home. Flights to the United States clear US immigration and customs at Halifax before boarding, so allow for it when you book your ride back to the airport.
