Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ) is the main airport for Halifax and for Nova Scotia, on Canada's Atlantic coast. It stands in Goffs, in the rural north of the Halifax Regional Municipality, beside Highway 102, about 30 minutes by road from downtown Halifax and a little less from Dartmouth.
Air Canada, Porter Airlines and WestJet fly the most routes, linking Halifax with Toronto, Montréal, Ottawa, Calgary, Vancouver and cities across Atlantic Canada. Flair Airlines, Pascan Aviation and Air Canada Express add more domestic flights, while American, Delta Connection and United Express fly to Boston, New York, Chicago and Washington. In summer, WestJet, Air Canada, Icelandair and Edelweiss add flights to Europe, and winter brings sun routes to the Caribbean and Florida. The airport handled about 4.1 million passengers in 2025.
All flights use one terminal, with check-in and security upstairs and baggage claim and ground transportation on the arrivals level. Flights to the United States leave from a separate U.S. departures area after US preclearance, and the Alt Hotel stands across the road from the terminal.
From the airport, most travelers head to downtown Halifax and its waterfront, Dartmouth, Bedford and the cruise terminals at the Halifax Seaport. Others drive on to Peggy's Cove, Lunenburg, the Annapolis Valley or Truro.
