Airport Transportation in Heathrow

Pre-booked private transportation takes you directly from London Heathrow Airport to your hotel, resort or vacation rental.

After immigration, baggage claim and customs, continue outside the terminal to the meeting area named in your confirmation. Your vehicle is reserved only for the passengers on your reservation: unlike a shared shuttle, it makes no extra hotel stops for other travelers, and the price is per vehicle, not per person.

About 23 km west of central London, Heathrow is the UK's busiest airport and its main long-haul gateway, with four terminals. From any of them we take you to hotels across London, its main stations, Windsor, Oxford and the cruise ports, with Heathrow airport transportation booked before your flight.

Heathrow Airport Transfers

Your driver meets you in the arrivals hall of your terminal, 2, 3, 4 or 5, with a name sign, helps with your luggage and walks you to the car. We track your flight, so a delay moves the pickup instead of cancelling it, and the price for the whole vehicle is fixed before you fly.

Heathrow airport transfers go door to door, with no change of train and no meter running in M4 traffic: to hotels and apartments from Mayfair and Kensington to the City and Canary Wharf, to King's Cross St Pancras for the Eurostar and London's other main stations, to Windsor, Oxford, Cambridge and the Cotswolds, to the cruise ports at Southampton, Dover and Harwich, and to Gatwick, Stansted, Luton and London City for connecting flights. Saloons, SUVs, minivans and minibuses are available for every party size.

Heathrow Airport Shuttle

The Heathrow airport shuttle is a private minivan or minibus for your party only, with no stops at other hotels on the way into London. It has room for long-haul luggage, strollers and cruise bags, and suits families, groups and anyone landing late, after the trains have stopped.

Landing at Heathrow Airport

London Heathrow lies west of central London, in the borough of Hillingdon, between the M4 and the M25.

Heathrow has four terminals. Terminal 2 serves most Star Alliance airlines (Lufthansa, United, Air Canada, Singapore Airlines); Terminal 3 serves oneworld airlines (American, Cathay Pacific, Qantas) plus Virgin Atlantic and Delta; Terminal 4 serves SkyTeam airlines (Air France, KLM, Korean Air) plus Qatar Airways and Etihad; Terminal 5 is home to British Airways and Iberia. Terminals 2 and 3 share a central area; 4 and 5 are separate and linked by free trains. Some airlines use more than one terminal, so check your booking and give us your flight number.

You clear UK passport control first; many visitors can use the eGates, and queues can be long when several long-haul flights land together. The UK is on GMT in winter and BST (GMT+1) in summer.

Entry requirements and local notes

  • Entry to the UK: the UK is not in the Schengen area. Unless you hold a British or Irish passport or a UK visa, you need an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before you travel; since 25 February 2026 that includes EU and EEA citizens. Apply online well ahead, and allow time for the border queue when you choose your pickup time.
  • Your terminal: Heathrow's terminals are far apart. Give your flight number when you book so the driver waits at the right one.
  • Late-night arrivals: the Heathrow Express and the Elizabeth line stop running around midnight, so a pre-booked transfer is the easiest way into the city after a late flight.
  • Currency: the UK uses pounds sterling.

Heathrow Airport Transportation FAQs

How far is Heathrow Airport from central London?

Heathrow is about 23 km west of central London. The drive usually takes 45 to 75 minutes to the West End, and longer to the City and Canary Wharf, depending on traffic.

Which terminal does my flight use at Heathrow?

Terminal 2 serves most Star Alliance airlines, Terminal 3 oneworld airlines plus Virgin Atlantic and Delta, Terminal 4 SkyTeam airlines plus Qatar Airways and Etihad, and Terminal 5 British Airways and Iberia. Some airlines use more than one, so check your ticket and include your flight number when you book.

Where will my driver meet me at Heathrow?

In the arrivals hall of your terminal, after passport control, baggage reclaim and customs. The exact meeting point is on your booking confirmation.

Do I need an ETA to fly into Heathrow?

Most visitors who do not need a UK visa now need an Electronic Travel Authorisation before they travel, including EU and EEA citizens since 25 February 2026. British and Irish citizens do not. Apply online before you fly.

How long is the drive from Heathrow to Windsor?

About 20 to 30 minutes. Windsor is the closest of the classic day trips to Heathrow, and a private transfer takes you to your hotel or straight to the castle.

Can I book a transfer from Heathrow to a cruise port?

Yes. We drive to Southampton, Dover and Harwich. Southampton is usually 75 to 100 minutes from Heathrow; give us your ship and boarding time so we plan the pickup around it.

Can I book a transfer between Heathrow and Gatwick?

Yes. The drive around the M25 usually takes 60 to 90 minutes. There is no direct train between the two airports, so a private transfer avoids changes with your bags.

Is a private transfer better than the Heathrow Express or a taxi?

The Heathrow Express runs to Paddington in about 15 minutes, and the Elizabeth and Piccadilly lines reach central London in 30 to 60 minutes, which is quick if you are staying near a station and travel light. A private transfer is booked in advance at a fixed price per vehicle and takes you door to door, which suits families, groups, heavy luggage and late arrivals.

Can I book a return transfer to Heathrow?

Yes. Book a round trip, or a one-way pickup from your hotel. Your driver drops you at the departures forecourt of your terminal.

What happens if my flight to Heathrow is delayed?

We monitor the flight on your reservation, so a delay doesn't cancel your pickup. If your flight number, date or airline changes, or the flight is cancelled, contact customer service as soon as you know.

Can you take me from Heathrow to a London train station?

Yes. Transfers to King's Cross St Pancras for the Eurostar, and to Paddington, Euston, Victoria, Waterloo and Liverpool Street, can be booked. Give your train time so the pickup leaves enough margin.

Is Airport Transportation the same as Heathrow Airport?

No. Airport Transportation is an independent booking site for private transfers and is not part of the airport. For flight information and airport services, see our Heathrow airport guide.
