Hurghada International Airport (HRG) stands inland, southwest of Hurghada's old town, and has two separate terminal buildings, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, both handling international and charter flights. Check your ticket for your terminal and give it to us when you book.
If you do not have an e-Visa, buy your visa-on-arrival sticker at the bank counters in the arrivals hall before you join the passport control line. Lines can be long when several charter flights land together. After passport control you collect your bags at baggage claim and pass through customs; only travelers may enter the terminal, so pre-booked drivers wait outside the arrivals exit.
Egypt is on Eastern European Time (UTC+2), and UTC+3 during summer daylight saving time. It uses the Egyptian pound.
Egypt visa. Most visitors need a visa. Apply for an e-Visa at visa2egypt.gov.eg before you fly, or, if your nationality qualifies, buy a visa on arrival in cash at the bank counters before passport control. Your passport should be valid for at least six months.
Phones. Visitors' own phones are exempt from Egypt's phone import fees for 90 days after arrival, and a phone roaming on a foreign SIM is exempt too.
Drones. Drones need a permit in Egypt, and customs can hold one found in your luggage without it.
Egyptian pound and tips. Egypt uses the Egyptian pound. Small notes are handy for porters and tips, and cards are widely accepted in the resorts.
