Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW) is on Chicago's Southwest Side, and the Chicago Department of Aviation runs it. One terminal leads to three connected concourses, A, B and C, which meet at the Central Market; Southwest Airlines flies most passengers.
Domestic flights arrive with no passport check, and you walk from your gate to baggage claim on the lower level. International flights from Mexico and the Caribbean arrive at Concourse A, where you clear U.S. immigration and customs before entering the terminal. Ground transportation leaves from the lower-level curb outside baggage claim, by door number.
Chicago is on Central Time (UTC-6) and switches to UTC-5 from March to early November. The United States uses the U.S. dollar.
Entry requirements and local notes
ESTA or visa. International visitors need a valid passport and either a U.S. visa or, for Visa Waiver Program nationals, an approved ESTA before boarding. Check the rules for your nationality before you fly.
Midway or O'Hare. Chicago has two airports. This page is for Midway (MDW); if your ticket says ORD, you land at O'Hare. Landing at O'Hare? See our O'Hare airport transportation page.
Door numbers. Taxis, rideshare and pre-arranged cars each pick up at set doors on the lower level, so follow your confirmation to the right door.
REAL ID for domestic flights. For a domestic flight home, adults need a REAL ID-compliant license or a passport at TSA security.
