Airport Transportation in MSP

Pre-booked private transportation takes you directly from Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport to your hotel, resort or vacation rental.

After immigration, baggage claim and customs, continue outside the terminal to the meeting area named in your confirmation. Your vehicle is reserved only for the passengers on your reservation: unlike a shared shuttle, it makes no extra hotel stops for other travelers, and the price is per vehicle, not per person.

From either MSP terminal we take you to hotels in downtown Minneapolis and the North Loop, downtown Saint Paul, the University of Minnesota, Bloomington and the Mall of America, and homes across the Twin Cities suburbs.

MSP Airport Transfers

MSP airport transfers start where your confirmation says: at Terminal 1 your driver meets you at baggage claim or at the Ground Transportation Center, and at Terminal 2 at the Ground Transport Center by the Purple Ramp. We track your flight, so the pickup follows your real landing time, and the price for the whole vehicle is agreed before you fly.

Choose a sedan for two, an SUV or a van for a family or group with luggage, and go door to door to your hotel, office, home or vacation rental anywhere in Minneapolis, Saint Paul and the suburbs. Heading to Rochester, Duluth or the lakes up north? Enter your address in the booking form to see whether a transfer is offered.

MSP Airport Shuttle

Our MSP airport shuttle is a private van for your party only, not a shared hotel or regional shuttle that waits to fill up and stops along the way. It has room for suitcases, strollers and sports gear, and suits families, teams and conference groups heading downtown or to the Mall of America.

Landing at MSP Airport

Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) has two terminals about a mile apart and not connected inside the airport. Terminal 1 has Concourses A to G and handles Delta and most other airlines; Terminal 2 has the H gates and handles Sun Country, Southwest, Frontier and Icelandair. The free METRO Blue Line links them.

International passengers clear US immigration and customs before reaching the public area: at Concourse G in Terminal 1, coming out near Bag Claim 11, or in Terminal 2's own arrivals area. At Terminal 1, baggage claim is above the Tram Level, which leads to the Ground Transportation Center; at Terminal 2, the Ground Transport Center is on the ground level of the Purple Ramp.

Minnesota is on Central Time and changes its clocks for daylight saving time.

Entry requirements and local notes

Entry to the US. International visitors need a valid passport and either an approved ESTA under the Visa Waiver Program or a US visa. Have the address where you are staying ready for the immigration officer.

Customs. Declare food, plants and animal products, and cash or monetary instruments over 10,000 US dollars, to US Customs and Border Protection.

Two separate terminals. Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 are different buildings with different roads, so give your airline and terminal when you book, for the pickup and for your ride back to the airport.

REAL ID for domestic flights. For a flight within the US, adults need a REAL ID-compliant license, a passport or another accepted ID at the security checkpoint.

How MSP Airport pickup works

  1. 1

At MSP

Terminal 2: Purple Ramp

Pre-booked rides pick up at the Ground Transport Center on the ground level of the Purple Ramp, directly across from the terminal.

At MSP

Check your terminal

Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 are separate buildings about a mile apart, so make sure your booking names the terminal your airline uses.

Check the company name and reservation details before getting in.

MSP Airport Transportation FAQs

Where will my driver meet me at MSP Airport?

At the meeting point in your confirmation: at Terminal 1, at baggage claim or the Ground Transportation Center one level below it, and at Terminal 2, at the Ground Transport Center on the ground level of the Purple Ramp.

How far is MSP Airport from downtown Minneapolis and Saint Paul?

MSP sits between the two cities, about 10 miles (16 km) from downtown Minneapolis and 8 to 10 miles from downtown Saint Paul. Either drive usually takes 20 to 25 minutes outside rush hour, and longer in heavy traffic or snow.

Can you take me to downtown Minneapolis or the University of Minnesota?

Yes. We drive to hotels downtown, in the North Loop and near U.S. Bank Stadium and the Minneapolis Convention Center, and to the University of Minnesota campus.

Can you take me to Saint Paul?

Yes. We drive to hotels and homes in downtown Saint Paul, near the Xcel Energy Center and the State Capitol, and across the city's neighborhoods.

Can you take me to the Mall of America or Bloomington hotels?

Yes. The Mall of America and the hotels around it in Bloomington are close to the airport, and we drive door to door to them.

Can you take me to Rochester, Duluth or the lakes up north?

Rochester, Duluth and the lake country are well outside the Twin Cities. Enter your address in the booking form to see whether a transfer is offered.

Which terminal should I give when I book?

The one your airline uses. Delta, American, United, Alaska and most international airlines use Terminal 1; Sun Country, Southwest, Frontier and Icelandair use Terminal 2. Your ticket or airline app shows it.

Do you drive to vacation rentals and private homes?

Yes. Give the full street address and any gate, building or unit details, and your driver goes door to door to rentals and homes in Minneapolis, Saint Paul and the suburbs.

Can I book a pickup for a late-night arrival or an early flight?

Yes. Transfers can be booked for late arrivals and early departures; give your exact flight time when you book so the pickup is set for it.

Should I accept rides from people offering them inside the terminal?

There is no need. Your driver is confirmed before you land; use only the official taxi stand, the ride-app zones or the driver named in your confirmation, and check the company name before getting in.

What happens if my flight is delayed or canceled?

We monitor the flight on your reservation, so your driver waits for the actual landing. If your flight number, date or airline changes, or your flight is canceled, tell customer service so the pickup can be moved.

Can I book a ride back to MSP Airport?

Yes. Book a one-way departure or a round trip and give your airline, terminal and departure time, so the pickup leaves time for check-in and security.

Do I need a REAL ID to fly home from MSP?

For flights within the US, adults need a REAL ID-compliant license, a passport or another accepted ID at security. International travelers use their passport.

Is Airport Transportation the same as Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport?

No. Airport Transportation is a private transfer booking site that books rides from MSP; we are not the airport or its operator. For terminals, airlines and other ways to get around, see our MSP airport page.
