Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI), also called Son Sant Joan, is the airport for Mallorca in the Balearic Islands. It sits next to Can Pastilla, east of Palma on the Bay of Palma, and shares its runways with an air force base. Aena runs it, and it is one of Spain's busiest airports, with most passengers arriving in summer.
All flights use one terminal building with four color-coded boarding modules: A (blue), mainly for flights from outside the Schengen area, including the UK and Ireland; B (green), for Air Nostrum regional flights; C (orange), mainly for European flights; and D (purple), for Schengen flights. Flights from Germany and other Schengen countries arrive without passport checks; if you come from outside the Schengen area, you arrive at Module A and queue at passport control, and queues can be long on busy summer days.
From your module, follow the signs to baggage claim and the arrivals hall in the main building; the walk from the farther gates can be long. Pre-booked drivers meet passengers in the arrivals hall. Spain is on Central European Time (UTC+1) and switches to UTC+2 for daylight saving time from late March to late October.
Entry requirements and local notes
Schengen entry. Spain is in the Schengen area. Arrivals from outside it, including the UK, go through passport control. Non-EU travelers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), fully operational since 10 April 2026; the planned ETIAS travel authorization is not yet in operation. Check the visa rules for your nationality before you fly.
Long walks. Gates in the outer modules can be a long walk from the main building, so allow extra time between landing and meeting your driver.
Summer peak. In July and August demand for rides is at its peak, so book your transfer before you fly.
Ferries. Ferries to Ibiza, Menorca and the Spanish mainland leave from the port of Palma. Give us your sailing time when you book, so your drop-off fits it.
Euro and cash. Spain uses the euro; carry some cash for small purchases.
