Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI), also called Son Sant Joan, is the airport for Mallorca, in the Balearic Islands, Spain. It sits next to the village of Can Pastilla, about 8 km (5 miles) east of Palma, close to the beaches of the Bay of Palma. In 2025 it handled about 33.8 million passengers, most of them in summer.
Germany and the United Kingdom are the biggest markets. Ryanair carries the most passengers, followed by Eurowings, Vueling, easyJet, Air Europa, Iberia, Condor, Jet2 and TUI, with flights to cities across Europe and to the Spanish mainland.
All flights use one terminal building with four boarding modules, each with its own color: Module A (blue) mainly for non-Schengen flights such as the UK and Ireland, Module B (green) for Air Nostrum regional flights, Module C (orange) mainly for European flights, and Module D (purple) for Schengen flights with Eurowings, Condor, easyJet and others. Module D closed for renovation in November 2025, with reopening planned for April 2026. The runways are shared with an air force base.
From the airport, most travelers head into Palma, to the beach resorts along the Bay of Palma, or across the island to Alcúdia, Pollença, Port de Sóller and the east-coast resorts.

All flights arrive at the single terminal building, at one of four color-coded modules. Flights from other Schengen countries, such as Germany, arrive without passport checks. If you come from outside the Schengen area, as many passengers here do from the UK and Ireland, you arrive at Module A and queue at passport control, where non-EU visitors are registered in the EU's Entry/Exit System. On busy summer days queues can be long.
From your module, follow the signs to baggage reclaim and the arrivals hall in the main building. The walk from the farther gates can be long, so allow time.
Outside arrivals, follow the signs to the taxi rank, the bus stops and the car parks. The EMT airport bus runs into Palma, and other buses serve some of the resorts. Pre-booked drivers usually meet you in the arrivals hall.
Spain is on Central European Time (CET) and uses the euro. In July and August, demand for taxis and transfers is at its peak, so book your ride ahead.
Most visitors head to resorts across the island, so a pre-booked car or taxi is the usual choice; the airport bus suits Palma itself.
A pre-booked car meets you in the arrivals hall, the easiest option for villas and resorts across Mallorca, such as Alcúdia, Pollença or the east coast.
Official taxis wait at the rank outside arrivals. Good for Palma and the Bay of Palma; queues can be long in summer.
City buses run from the airport into Palma. The cheapest option for the city, but not for resorts elsewhere on the island.
Rental companies have desks at the airport, a good option for exploring the island.
