Verona Villafranca Airport (VRN), also known as Valerio Catullo Airport, is southwest of Verona at Caselle di Sommacampagna. It has two adjoining buildings: Terminal 1 for departures, enlarged in 2026, and Terminal 2 for all arrivals, so every passenger exits into the same arrivals hall.
Flights from Italy and other Schengen countries arrive without passport checks; from outside the Schengen area, including the UK and Ireland, you go through passport control first. After baggage claim you walk through customs into the Terminal 2 arrivals hall, where pre-booked drivers meet passengers. There is no railway station at the airport.
Italy is on Central European Time (UTC+1) and switches to UTC+2 for daylight saving time from late March to late October. It uses the euro.
Schengen entry. Italy is in the Schengen area. Non-EU travelers arriving from outside it are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), fully operational since 10 April 2026. Check the visa rules for your nationality before you fly.
Verona's ZTL. The historic center is a limited traffic zone (ZTL) watched by cameras, so give your full address; where a car cannot enter, your driver stops at the nearest point allowed.
Lakeside old towns. The old centers of Sirmione and some other Lake Garda towns are closed to most traffic, so give your hotel's name and address; your driver stops at the nearest point a car can reach.
Euro and cards. Italy uses the euro, and cards and contactless payments are widely accepted.
