Also known as: Belfast Airport, BFS Airport. Formerly Aldergrove Airport.

Belfast International Airport (BFS) is the main airport for Northern Ireland, in the United Kingdom. It stands at Aldergrove in County Antrim, about 21 km (13 miles) northwest of Belfast city center, and is reached from the city on the M2 highway in about 25 to 35 minutes, depending on traffic.
easyJet is the largest airline here, with flights to London, other cities across Great Britain and destinations in Europe. Jet2.com, Ryanair and TUI Airways add vacation routes to Spain, Portugal, the Canary Islands, Greece and Turkey, and TUI flies seasonally to Cancún, Punta Cana and Orlando. The airport handled about 6.7 million passengers in 2024.
All flights use one terminal on two levels: check-in, security and the gates are upstairs, and arrivals, baggage claim and the car rental desks are on the ground floor.
From the airport, most travelers head into Belfast, to hotels in the city center, the Cathedral Quarter and the Titanic Quarter, or to nearby towns such as Antrim and Lisburn. Others go on to the north coast and the Causeway Coast. Belfast's second airport, George Best Belfast City Airport (BHD), is a separate airport near the harbor.

Flights from Great Britain and elsewhere in the Common Travel Area arrive without routine passport control. If you fly in from outside it, such as from Spain, France or Turkey, you go through UK passport control first; most visitors who do not need a visa must hold a UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before they fly.
Belfast International has one terminal, so there is no terminal to choose. Arrivals, baggage claim and customs are on the ground floor, and you walk out into the arrivals hall, where pre-booked drivers wait and the car rental desks are.
For the city, the Airport Express 300 bus leaves from outside the terminal for Belfast Grand Central and runs 24 hours a day. The taxi stand is to the right as you leave the arrivals hall. If you are being collected by car, check the pickup point in the arrivals hall signage.
Northern Ireland uses the pound sterling and is on UK time.
The Airport Express 300 is the simple way into Belfast; a taxi or pre-booked car is easier with luggage or for addresses outside the center.
Translink's Airport Express 300 runs 24 hours a day to Belfast Grand Central, about every 15 minutes at busy times, taking about 30 to 40 minutes. It can be slower in rush-hour traffic.
Metered taxis wait 24 hours at the taxi stand to the right of the arrivals hall exit and take about 30 minutes to the city center outside rush hour.
Avis, Budget, Europcar and Hertz have desks in the arrivals hall; some cars are collected from lots reached by courtesy bus.
The Airporter coach links the airport with the northwest of Northern Ireland, an option for travelers not heading to Belfast.
A pre-booked car meets you in the arrivals hall, useful for families, groups, late arrivals and trips beyond Belfast.

They have different airlines and are not connected, so check the airport code on your ticket before you book a ride or ask someone to collect you.
Yes. Translink's Airport Express 300 runs from outside the terminal to Belfast Grand Central, 24 hours a day. It leaves about every 15 minutes at busy times and takes about 30 to 40 minutes, depending on traffic. From Grand Central you can connect to trains and other buses across Northern Ireland.

Belfast International has one terminal on two levels. Check-in, the security hall, the shops and the gates are upstairs, while arrivals, baggage claim, the car rental desks and the arrivals hall are on the ground floor. Every airline uses the same building, so there is no terminal to choose and no transfer between terminals.
easyJet is the largest airline at Belfast International, with flights to London Gatwick, Luton and Stansted, other cities in Great Britain and destinations in Europe. Jet2.com and Ryanair fly to Spain, Portugal, the Canary Islands and other vacation spots, and TUI Airways adds seasonal routes, including Cancún, Punta Cana and Orlando.
Most likely, if you are not British or Irish. Most visitors who do not need a visa for the UK, including EU, US and Canadian citizens, must hold a UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before they fly, and airlines check it at boarding. British and Irish citizens do not need one. Check the rules for your nationality before you travel.
It depends on where you fly from. Flights from Great Britain, the Channel Islands and elsewhere in the Common Travel Area arrive without routine passport control, though airlines ask for photo ID. Flights from outside it, such as from Spain or Turkey, go through UK passport control before baggage claim and customs.
No. The airport has no railway station of its own. The nearest station is Antrim, about 10 km (6 miles) away, with trains to Belfast and the northwest. Yes. The Causeway Lounge is airside, after security, with food, drinks, Wi-Fi and views of the runway. Avis, Budget, Europcar and Hertz have desks in the arrivals hall on the ground floor. After you collect your paperwork, some companies take you by courtesy bus to their parking lot near the terminal. Northern Ireland drives on the left, and the M2 highway leads from the airport toward Belfast.
The airport has short-stay and long-stay parking on site and a Park and Fly lot off site. The long-stay lot has an on-demand courtesy bus to the terminal, and the Park and Fly lot is linked by its own courtesy bus. You can book parking ahead on the airport's website.
Northern Ireland uses the pound sterling, the same currency as the rest of the UK. Cards and contactless payments are widely accepted in the terminal and in Belfast. A currency exchange counter is landside before the escalators to security, with limited hours, and ATMs are on both levels of the terminal.
