Main Terminal
The only passenger terminal, used by every airline. Ticketing and security are on Level 2, the gates are on one concourse past security, and baggage claim is on Level 1.
Also known as: Savannah Airport, SAV Airport, Savannah Hilton Head Airport. Formerly Savannah International Airport, Travis Field.

Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport (SAV) is the commercial airport for Savannah, Georgia, in the United States, and for the South Carolina Lowcountry around Hilton Head Island. It stands beside Interstate 95 at its own exit, about 8 miles (13 km) northwest of Savannah's Historic District.
All flights are domestic. Delta, Southwest, American and United carry most passengers, with nonstop flights to hubs such as Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas/Fort Worth, Chicago, Newark and Washington. JetBlue flies to Boston and New York JFK, and Allegiant, Breeze, Avelo and Sun Country add leisure routes, many of them seasonal. The airport handled about 4.2 million passengers in 2025.
Everything happens in one terminal opened in 1994: check-in and security on the upper level, a single concourse of gates, and baggage claim on the lower level. A concourse expansion is adding four gates, for 19 in all.
From the airport, most travelers head into the Historic District, River Street and the squares, about 20 minutes away, or out to Tybee Island on the coast. Hilton Head Island and Bluffton, across the state line in South Carolina, are about 45 minutes by road, and Pooler and Richmond Hill are close by.

Flights into Savannah are domestic, so there is no passport control or customs: you leave the plane at your gate and walk down the concourse to the main hall. The only exception is international private and charter aircraft, which clear US Customs and Border Protection at the separate Federal Inspection Services facility.
Follow the signs down to baggage claim on Level 1. Free baggage carts are staged there, and the Visitor Information Center in baggage claim has maps, brochures and event calendars, open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
The car rental counters are in baggage claim too, with the rental lots in a covered area beside the terminal. Taxis wait on the lower level outside baggage claim, and Uber and Lyft pick up at the north entrance of baggage claim. If someone is collecting you in their own car, they wait in the free cell phone lot until you have your bags, because cars cannot stand at the curb.
Savannah is on Eastern Time, the same as New York and Atlanta.
A taxi, rideshare or pre-booked car is the usual way into Savannah; for Hilton Head Island, most travelers book a ride or rent a car.
Taxis wait on the lower level outside baggage claim, including for late-night arrivals, and go door to door to the Historic District, Tybee Island or Hilton Head. Fares run on the meter or by the company's rates, so ask before you set off.
Rideshare pickup is at the north entrance of baggage claim. Waits can be longer when several flights land together.
A pre-booked car or van meets you at baggage claim and drives straight to your hotel or rental in Savannah, on Tybee Island or on Hilton Head Island, which suits families, golfers and groups with luggage.
Nine companies have counters in baggage claim, with covered rental and return lots next to the terminal. A car is useful for touring the Lowcountry, but parking in the Historic District is metered and limited.
Chatham Area Transit's Route 3 West Chatham/SAV HHI Airport links the airport with Savannah. It is the cheapest option but slow with luggage and runs a reduced weekday schedule.

Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport is about 8 miles (13 km) northwest of the Historic District, next to Interstate 95. The drive to downtown, River Street and the squares usually takes about 20 minutes. Taxis, Uber and Lyft, pre-booked cars and the CAT Route 3 bus all connect the airport with the city.
Hilton Head Island is about 45 minutes from the airport by road, across the state line in South Carolina, and longer in summer traffic or to the far end of the island. There is no train, so travelers take a taxi, a rideshare, a pre-booked transfer or a rental car. Bluffton is on the way.
No. Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport (SAV) is in Savannah, Georgia, and is the main airport for both cities. Hilton Head Island Airport (HXD) is a separate, much smaller airport on the island itself with only a few routes. Check the code on your ticket: SAV means you land in Savannah.
Tybee Island is on the Atlantic coast east of Savannah, reached by US Highway 80 through the city. There is no direct public transport from the airport, so most visitors take a taxi, a rideshare, a pre-booked transfer or a rental car. Allow extra time on summer weekends, when beach traffic builds on the single road onto the island.
Savannah has one terminal, opened in 1994. Check-in and security are on Level 2, all gates are on a single concourse past security, and baggage claim is on Level 1. A concourse expansion is adding four gates, bringing the total to 19, so the gate area is changing during the works.
Delta, Southwest, American and United carry most passengers at Savannah, with nonstop flights to Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas/Fort Worth, Chicago, Newark, Washington and other hubs. JetBlue flies to Boston and New York JFK. Allegiant, Breeze, Avelo and Sun Country add leisure routes, many of them seasonal. All scheduled flights are within the United States.
No scheduled international flights operate from Savannah. Despite the word International in its name, every airline route goes to a US city, so travelers from abroad connect through a US hub such as Atlanta, Charlotte or New York and clear immigration there. The airport's Federal Inspection Services facility handles international private and charter aircraft.
Taxis wait on the lower level outside baggage claim and are available on demand, including for late-night arrivals. Uber and Lyft pick up at the north entrance of baggage claim. Private cars cannot wait at the curb, so friends collecting you should wait in the free cell phone lot until you have your bags.
Yes. Chatham Area Transit's Route 3 West Chatham/SAV HHI Airport serves the airport and links it with Savannah. It is the cheapest way into the city, but the trip is slow with luggage and the weekday schedule was reduced in August 2026, so check CAT's current timetable before you rely on it.
The car rental counters are in baggage claim on Level 1, and the rental and return lots are covered and next to the main terminal building. Nine companies operate there, including Alamo, Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz and National. Opening hours vary by company, and some close earlier in the evening than others.
Savannah has one lounge, the Passport Club, past security on the main concourse between Gates 10 and 12. It is open daily from 5:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. for members only. The airport lists no airline-run club lounges, so check with your airline before counting on lounge access.
Terminal Parking is a garage about 150 feet from the terminal, and Economy Parking is a second garage a little farther away; both have covered walkways. Surface Lots A to D are farther out, and valet parking runs from the Departures level. The North Economy Garage is closed for maintenance until November 18, 2026.
Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport is on Eastern Time, the same as New York, Atlanta and Hilton Head Island. Clocks follow US daylight saving time, moving forward in March and back in November. Travelers arriving from the Midwest, Texas or Denver set their watches one or two hours ahead.
