Also known as: Izmir Airport, ADB Airport, Adnan Menderes Airport.
ADB · LTBJ · İzmir
İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB) is the main airport for İzmir, Turkey's third-largest city, and for the Aegean coast around it. It stands in the Gaziemir district, about 14 km (9 miles) south of the city center, beside the D.550 highway, and TAV Airports runs it.
Turkish Airlines, AJet, Pegasus and SunExpress link İzmir with Istanbul, Ankara and cities across Turkey, and Pegasus and SunExpress also fly to Germany, the UK and other European countries. In summer, Jet2.com, easyJet, Corendon, British Airways, Eurowings and others add seasonal flights from the UK and Europe. The airport handled about 12.7 million passengers in 2025.
There are two terminals, an International Terminal opened in 2006 and a Domestic Terminal opened in 2014, linked by a pedestrian walkway. The İZBAN commuter rail station next to the airport has trains to the city center.
From the airport, many travelers head into İzmir itself, to Alsancak, Konak and the waterfront. Others go west along the peninsula to Çeşme and Alaçatı, about 85 km away, or south to Selçuk and the ruins of Ephesus and on to the resort town of Kuşadası, about an hour or a little more by road.

On an international flight you arrive at the International Terminal and go through passport control first; check before you fly whether your nationality can enter Turkey visa-free or needs an e-Visa. Flights from Istanbul, Ankara and other Turkish cities arrive at the Domestic Terminal with no passport checks.
After passport control, collect your bags at baggage claim and walk through customs into the arrivals hall. The International Terminal's arrivals level has ATMs, a bank and a currency exchange, and left luggage, so it is a good place to get some Turkish lira before you go outside.
Car rental desks are in the arrivals area, and official taxis wait at the taxi stand outside the terminals. For the city, follow the signs to the İZBAN station next to the airport, or to the Havaş bus stop. Pre-booked drivers usually meet passengers at the arrivals exit with a name sign.
Turkey is on Turkey Time (UTC+3) all year, with no daylight saving time.
İZBAN is the quickest public option into İzmir; a taxi or pre-booked car is easier with luggage or for Çeşme, Alaçatı and Kuşadası.
Trains stop at the airport station about every 10 minutes at peak times and every 20 minutes off-peak, running north to Alsancak and the city center. Stations can be a walk from hotels, which is harder with heavy luggage.
Havaş buses run between the airport and central İzmir in about 35 to 60 minutes, and Havaş also has a service to the bus station in Kuşadası. Buses are timed around flights and drop you at fixed stops, not at your hotel.
ESHOT routes 200, 202, 204 and 206 link the airport with central İzmir, with many stops on the way.
Official taxis wait at the taxi stand outside the terminals and go door to door. Agree on the meter or the fare before you set off, especially for longer trips to the coast.
A pre-booked car meets you at the arrivals exit, useful for families, groups, late arrivals and trips to Çeşme, Alaçatı or Kuşadası, where there is no direct train.

Çeşme and Alaçatı are about 85 km (53 miles) west of the airport, on the peninsula at the end of the O-32 highway. The drive usually takes 60 to 80 minutes, longer on summer weekend evenings. There is no direct train, so most visitors take a taxi or a pre-booked car.
Kuşadası is about 70 to 80 km south of the airport, usually a drive of 60 to 75 minutes. Selçuk and the ruins of Ephesus lie on the way, a little closer to the airport. Havaş runs a bus to the Kuşadası bus station, and regional trains run to Selçuk.
