Terminal
One terminal for all flights, opened in 1980 and expanded in 1997.
Also known as: Kos Airport, Hippocrates Airport, Kos Ippokratis Airport.
KGS · LGKO · Kos

Kos International Airport "Ippokratis" (KGS), named after Hippocrates, is the airport for the island of Kos in the Dodecanese, Greece. It sits in the middle of the island near the village of Antimachia, about 24 km (15 miles) from Kos Town. In 2025 it handled about 3.2 million passengers, most of them in summer.
The UK and Germany are the biggest markets, followed by Greece, Poland, the Netherlands and Italy. Aegean Airlines flies year-round to Athens and Thessaloniki, and in summer easyJet, Jet2, TUI, Condor, Ryanair, Eurowings, British Airways and many other airlines bring vacation flights from across Europe.
All flights use a single terminal, opened in 1980 and later expanded. Fraport Greece runs the airport.
From the airport, most visitors head east to Kos Town and the resorts of Tigaki, Marmari and Psalidi, south to Kardamena, west to Kefalos and Kamari, or to Mastichari for ferries to Kalymnos.

All flights arrive at the single terminal. Flights from Athens and other Schengen countries arrive without passport checks. If you come from outside the Schengen area, as many summer visitors do from the UK, you queue at passport control, where non-EU visitors are registered in the EU's Entry/Exit System. On summer weekends, when many charter flights land close together, the terminal gets busy.
Once you have your bags, head outside. Public buses run to Kos Town, Mastichari, Kardamena and Kefalos, and metered taxis wait outside the terminal around the clock. Package vacation guests with operators such as Jet2holidays and TUI usually have a coach transfer arranged. Pre-booked drivers usually meet you outside arrivals.
The airport is in the middle of the island, so Kos Town and the resorts on the northeast coast are a longer drive than Kardamena or Mastichari.
Greece is on Eastern European Time (EET), two hours ahead of the UK, and uses the euro.
Kos Town is about 24 km away; a taxi or pre-booked car is quickest, and buses are cheapest.
A pre-booked car meets you outside arrivals, the easiest option for Kos Town, Psalidi, villas and families with luggage.
Metered taxis wait outside the terminal 24 hours a day. Kardamena and Mastichari are close; Kos Town is a longer ride.
Public buses run to Kos Town, Mastichari, Kardamena and Kefalos. Cheap, but less frequent outside summer.
Package vacation companies such as Jet2holidays and TUI run free coach transfers for their guests.
