Salzburg Airport W. A. Mozart (SZG) serves Salzburg, Austria, and the surrounding Alps. It lies about 4 km from the city center, close to the German border, with direct access to the A1, A8 and A10 motorways. It handled about 1.77 million passengers in 2025.
Eurowings has a base here, with year-round flights to Berlin, Cologne/Bonn, Düsseldorf and Hamburg and seasonal routes to the Mediterranean. Lufthansa, Turkish Airlines and flydubai link Salzburg to the Frankfurt, Istanbul and Dubai hubs. In winter, many flights from the UK and Scandinavia carry skiers, including easyJet, Jet2.com, TUI Airways and Norwegian.
Terminal 1 handles regular flights, while the smaller Terminal 2 opens for seasonal peaks, mainly winter Saturday charters. Passengers walk or take a bus to the aircraft, as there are no jet bridges.
A taxi or bus reaches the old town and the main station in about 15 minutes. From the airport, travelers head to Salzburg's old town, the Ski amadé resorts such as Flachau and Schladming, Obertauern, Zell am See-Kaprun, Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Bad Gastein, Kitzbühel and Bad Reichenhall in Bavaria.

If you fly in from outside the Schengen Area, for example from the UK, you pass passport control before baggage claim; flights from Schengen countries skip it. Non-EU travelers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), fully operational since 10 April 2026; the planned ETIAS travel authorization is not yet in operation.
Baggage claim is quick at this small airport, though ski bags and oversized items can take longer on busy winter Saturdays. After customs, you exit into the arrivals area of the terminal.

ÖBB Postbus line 260 runs from the stop in front of Terminal 1 via Bad Reichenhall and Lofer to Saalfelden and Zell am See. It is slower than a direct transfer but needs no change.
Transfer companies serve the Ski amadé resorts, Obertauern, Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Zell am See-Kaprun and Bad Gastein. Ski resorts such as Schladming and Obertauern are about 70 to 75 minutes away by road, Saalbach-Hinterglemm about 90 minutes.
Uber operates at Salzburg Airport, with pickups arranged in the app. Availability can be thinner than in larger cities, so the taxi rank is a reliable backup.
