Norwegian is a Scandinavian low-cost airline group based in Norway. The parent company, Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA, was founded in 1993 as a regional airline and began low-cost flights with Boeing 737 aircraft in 2002. Its head office is at Fornebu, near Oslo. Flights are operated by Norwegian Air Shuttle and its Swedish subsidiary, Norwegian Air Sweden, and the group also owns the Norwegian regional airline Widerøe. Norwegian is not part of a global airline alliance.

The network is built around the four Nordic capitals: Oslo, Copenhagen, Stockholm Arlanda and Helsinki. Norwegian also has bases in Bergen, Riga and several Spanish airports. It flies domestic routes in Norway, Sweden and Finland, links between the Nordic countries, and flights to more than 120 destinations across Europe, with seasonal routes to the Mediterranean, the Canary Islands, North Africa and the Middle East.

The fleet of about 95 aircraft is all Boeing 737, a mix of 737-800 and 737 MAX 8 jets.

On board

Norwegian cabin classes

Norwegian flies a single economy cabin on every aircraft. What is included depends on the fare type: LowFare, LowFare+ or Flex.

LowFare

The basic fare, with a small under-seat bag included. An overhead cabin bag, checked bags and seat reservation can be added.

LowFare+

Adds an overhead cabin bag, a checked bag and seat reservation to the basic fare.

Flex

The most flexible fare, with changes allowed, a larger baggage allowance and seat reservation included.

Seat reservation

Travelers can choose a seat when booking or later in My Travels. Emergency exit rows have extra legroom, and safety rules limit who can sit there.

Practical information

Baggage Cabin bags, checked bags, missing luggage

Norwegian baggage allowances depend on the fare type. Check the allowance in your booking before you travel.

Hand baggage

All fares include a small bag that fits under the seat. LowFare+ and Flex also include an overhead cabin bag. Size and weight limits depend on the fare and are shown during booking.

Checked baggage

LowFare does not include a checked bag. LowFare+ includes one checked bag and Flex includes two. Extra bags can be added in My Travels before departure.

Special items

Ski and golf equipment, sports gear, strollers, car seats and other special items follow separate rules. Check the official Norwegian baggage information before you fly.
