The single terminal handles all domestic and international flights, with six international gates, two domestic gates and one arrivals hall.
Also known as: Cozumel Airport, CZM Airport.
CZM · MMCZ · Cozumel
Cozumel International Airport (CZM) is the airport of Cozumel, an island off the Caribbean coast of Quintana Roo, Mexico. It stands on the island's west side, just north of San Miguel de Cozumel, the only town, and is run by ASUR, which also operates Cancún International Airport across the channel.
Most flights come from the United States, Canada and Mexico City. American Airlines flies from Dallas/Fort Worth and Miami, United from Houston, and Aeroméxico and Volaris from Mexico City, while Delta, Air Canada, WestJet, Air Transat and Sun Country add seasonal flights from Atlanta, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Toronto, Montreal and Calgary. The airport handled about 647,000 passengers in 2025.
All flights use one terminal with eight gates, six for international flights and two for domestic ones. The airport is about 3 km (2 miles) from downtown San Miguel, a drive of around 10 minutes, and the hotels along the island's north and south coasts, Chankanaab park and the cruise piers south of town are all reached by the coastal road. Travelers who land in Cancún instead cross to the island by ferry from Playa del Carmen.

On an international flight you start at immigration, where an officer checks your passport and records your entry as a tourist with Mexico's entry permit (FMM). Keep the stamp or receipt you are given until you leave the country.
Cozumel has one terminal and a small baggage claim, so collecting your bags is quick. Customs comes next: hand over your declaration and press the button at the checkpoint; green means you walk straight out, red means a short bag inspection.
Past customs you enter the arrivals hall, where the ground transportation desk sells taxi and shared shuttle tickets and car rental companies have their counters. Pre-booked drivers wait outside the arrivals exit, so walk through the doors before looking for your name sign, and ignore offers from people you have not booked with. Uber does not operate on the island.
Cozumel is on Eastern Standard Time (UTC−5) all year, and both Mexican pesos and US dollars are widely used.
Downtown San Miguel is close, so a taxi or shared van works for light travelers; a pre-booked car suits families, divers with gear and hotels on the south coast.
Buy a ticket at the ground transportation desk in the arrivals hall; fares are fixed by zone rather than metered. The ride to downtown San Miguel takes around 10 minutes.
Shared vans leave from the same desk once they fill and drop passengers at several hotels in turn. It costs less than a taxi but takes longer if your hotel is the last stop.
Several car rental companies have counters in the arrivals hall. The coastal road links the airport with San Miguel and both hotel zones, and the island is easy to drive.
A pre-booked car or van meets you outside the arrivals exit and goes straight to your hotel, condo or the ferry pier, with room for luggage and dive gear.

Cozumel airport is about 3 km (2 miles) north of downtown San Miguel de Cozumel, a drive of around 10 minutes. The town's main square, the ferry pier and most downtown hotels are reached along the coastal road, and taxis, shared vans and pre-booked cars wait at the terminal for every arriving flight.
Cozumel airport has one terminal for all domestic and international flights. It has eight gates, six for international flights and two for domestic ones, plus a single arrivals hall. With one small baggage claim and short walks, most travelers are out of the building soon after clearing immigration and customs.
American Airlines flies to Cozumel from Dallas/Fort Worth and Miami, United from Houston, and Aeroméxico and Volaris from Mexico City, with Viva from Monterrey. Delta, Air Canada, WestJet, Air Transat and Sun Country add seasonal flights from Atlanta, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Toronto, Montreal and Calgary, mostly in the winter season.
Fly into Cozumel if you are staying on the island and a direct flight works for you, since the airport is minutes from town. Cancún has far more flights, but from there you travel south to Playa del Carmen and take the ferry across, which adds several hours to the journey.
You can buy a taxi or shared shuttle ticket at the ground transportation desk in the arrivals hall, rent a car at the counters nearby, or book a private transfer ahead. Fares are fixed by zone rather than metered, and shared vans wait to fill and stop at several hotels before yours.
No. Uber does not operate on Cozumel, so you cannot request a ride from the airport with the app. Taxis are sold at the ground transportation desk in the arrivals hall at fixed zone fares, and shared shuttle vans and pre-booked private transfers are the other options for reaching your hotel.
Yes. Taxis from the ground transportation desk go to the cruise piers south of town, including the International Pier and Puerta Maya, and to Punta Langosta downtown. Check which pier your ship uses before you land, because the ships dock at different piers and a few kilometers separate them.
No. The airport is on the island, so there is no ferry to take after you land. The passenger ferries to Playa del Carmen leave from the downtown pier in San Miguel, a short drive from the terminal, for travelers continuing to the mainland or flying home from Cancún.
You need a valid passport, and most visitors from the US, Canada and Europe do not need a visa for a tourist stay. Immigration records your entry with the FMM tourist permit, whose fee is normally included in your airfare. Keep the stamp or receipt until you leave Mexico.
Yes. The Caral VIP Lounge is airside past security, opposite gates 5 and 6. Priority Pass and American Express Platinum cardholders can use it, and other passengers can pay at the entrance. It is small, with snacks and drinks, and offers a quieter place to wait than the gate area.
Yes. Several car rental companies have counters in the arrivals hall, after customs. The coastal road circles most of the island, linking the airport with San Miguel, the north and south hotel zones and the beaches of the east coast, so many visitors rent a car or scooter for part of their stay.
Cozumel is on Eastern Standard Time (UTC−5) all year, the same as Cancún and the rest of Quintana Roo. Mexico does not use daylight saving time here, so in the US summer the island matches US Central time, and in winter it matches US Eastern time.
Yes. A parking lot sits in front of the terminal, a short walk from both departures and arrivals. It suits drivers dropping off or collecting passengers and residents leaving a car while they travel. Rates are posted at the entrance, and the lot is the closest place to wait when meeting an arriving flight.
