Concourse A
Domestic flights, in the main building, with five gates: gates 1 to 3 upstairs with jet bridges and gates 4 and 5 boarding from the apron. Shops, food stands and a VIP lounge.
Also known as: Puerto Vallarta Airport, Vallarta Airport, PVR Airport.
PVR · MMPR · Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta International Airport (PVR), officially Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport, serves Puerto Vallarta in Jalisco, Mexico, and the neighboring Riviera Nayarit. It sits inside the city, 1 km north of Marina Vallarta and around 15 to 25 minutes from downtown and the Romantic Zone. Travelers heading to Nuevo Vallarta, Bucerías, Punta de Mita and Sayulita land here too.
Most traffic is tourism from the United States and Canada. Alaska, American, Delta, Southwest and United fly in from their hubs, and WestJet, Air Canada, Flair and Air Transat connect the city with Canada, many routes running only in the winter season. Viva Aerobus, Volaris and Aeroméxico link Puerto Vallarta with Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey and Tijuana.
All flights use one two-storey terminal. Domestic flights board from Concourse A, in the main building, and international flights from Concourse B, a satellite building connected by a walkway. Arrivals, immigration, customs and baggage claim are on the ground floor.
A new terminal, of more than 68,000 square metres and designed for over 4.5 million passengers a year, is under construction and expected to open in 2027.
Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP)
One asphalt runway, 04/22, 3,100 m (10,171 ft)
About 6.9 million in 2025
57 destinations, 16 domestic and 41 international, served by 24 airlines (2025)
Arrivals are on the ground floor of the terminal. On an international flight you reach Mexican immigration first: have your passport ready, along with any documents your nationality requires. During busy periods, immigration and customs together can take up to an hour.
Collect your bags at the carousel shown for your flight, and report missing or damaged luggage at your airline's desk before you leave baggage claim. Then go through customs.
Between customs and the exit, timeshare and tour sellers approach arriving passengers, sometimes presenting themselves as transport desks. If you already have a booking, keep walking: most pre-arranged transport waits outside the terminal, past the arrival area.
Taxi stands, car-rental desks, snack bars and souvenir shops are in the arrivals area. Have a little cash in pesos for tips and small purchases, and keep WhatsApp or mobile data ready so you can reach your driver.
Construction of the new terminal may change access roads and pickup points, so follow the signs on the day.
A pre-booked transfer suits most travelers heading to Nuevo Vallarta and the Riviera Nayarit; taxis work well for short hops into Puerto Vallarta.
A driver meets you outside the terminal and goes straight to your hotel or rental in Puerto Vallarta, Nuevo Vallarta, Bucerías, La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, Punta de Mita, Sayulita or San Pancho. The most comfortable choice with luggage or a group.
Taxi stands are in the arrivals area. Downtown and the Romantic Zone are around 15 to 25 minutes away, but airport taxis charge more than pre-booked rides.
Shuttle vans serve hotels in Puerto Vallarta and the Riviera Nayarit. Cheaper per person, but the trip takes longer while other passengers are dropped off.
Car-rental desks are in the ground-floor arrivals area.

Puerto Vallarta's airport is officially called Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport, after the former Mexican president. Travelers, airlines and booking sites usually just call it Puerto Vallarta International Airport or PVR. Its IATA code is PVR and its ICAO code is MMPR, so look for PVR on your ticket and baggage tags.
Puerto Vallarta airport is inside the city, 1 km north of Marina Vallarta, and around 15 to 25 minutes by road from downtown and the Romantic Zone. Nuevo Vallarta and the Riviera Nayarit lie to the north, across the state line in Nayarit, so trips to Bucerías, Punta de Mita or Sayulita take longer than trips into the city.
Puerto Vallarta airport has one terminal with two concourses. Domestic flights use Concourse A in the main building, and international flights use Concourse B, a satellite building connected by a walkway. Arrivals, immigration, customs and baggage claim are all on the ground floor. A new terminal is under construction and expected to open in 2027.
Immigration and customs together can take up to an hour at Puerto Vallarta airport during busy periods, such as winter weekends when many flights from the United States and Canada land close together. At quieter times it is usually faster. Keep your passport and any travel documents in your carry-on so you are ready at passport control.
Yes. Puerto Vallarta airport has a VIP lounge in each concourse: one in Concourse A for domestic flights and one in Concourse B, the international satellite. Entry depends on your ticket, a lounge membership or paid access, and hours vary with the flight schedule, so check the conditions with the lounge before you fly.
A common guideline is to arrive at least two hours before a domestic flight and three hours before an international flight from Puerto Vallarta. Allow more time during holidays and the winter high season, and while construction of the new terminal changes access roads and drop-off points. Always follow your airline's own recommendation.
