Also known as: RSW Airport, Fort Myers Airport, Fort Myers International Airport. Formerly Southwest Florida Regional Airport.

Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) is the main airport for Fort Myers and Southwest Florida in the United States. The Lee County Port Authority runs it, and it sits in south Lee County, beside I-75 at Exit 128 and about 15 miles (24 km) southeast of downtown Fort Myers.
Most flights are domestic. Delta, Southwest, American, United and JetBlue carry the most passengers, with Frontier, Breeze, Sun Country, Allegiant, Avelo and Alaska adding routes across the United States. Air Canada, Porter and WestJet fly from Canada, and Discover Airlines links Fort Myers with Frankfurt. The airport handled about 11.2 million passengers in 2025, with traffic peaking in the winter months.
One terminal, opened in 2005, leads to three concourses, B, C and D, with Bag Claim and ground transportation on the lower level. A new Concourse E and a single combined security checkpoint are under construction.
From the airport, travelers head into Fort Myers and Cape Coral, west to the beaches at Fort Myers Beach, Sanibel and Captiva, and south along I-75 to Estero, Bonita Springs and Naples. The drive to downtown Fort Myers usually takes 20 to 30 minutes, and Naples about 35 to 45 minutes outside peak traffic.

Most flights to Fort Myers are domestic, so you walk from your gate straight down to Bag Claim on the lower level of the terminal. Flights from Toronto, Montréal and Ottawa usually clear US border checks in Canada before departure. Other international arrivals, such as the Frankfurt flight, go through US Customs and Border Protection in the international arrivals facility on the lower level of Concourse B, where Global Entry kiosks are available.
All three concourses feed into the same Bag Claim hall, so there is only one arrivals area to find. Baggage carousels are numbered, and the TSA PreCheck enrollment office is opposite carousel 4.
Outside Bag Claim, follow the signs for your ride. The rental car counters and the pickup area for pre-arranged taxis and limousines are on the ground floor of the parking garage across the roadway, reached by the crosswalks from the terminal doors. Rideshare pickups are signposted on the arrivals level, and the LeeTran bus stop is on the lower level of the garage.
Connect to the free RSWiFly Wi-Fi network to message your ride. Fort Myers is on Eastern Time.
Most visitors rent a car or book a car to the door; buses serve Fort Myers but not the beaches directly.
A pre-booked car or van meets you at Bag Claim and drives door to door to Fort Myers, the islands or Naples, which is simplest for families, golf groups and late arrivals.
On-demand taxis wait outside Bag Claim for walk-up customers, with fares set by zone rather than by meter. Lines can build when several flights land together in the winter season.
Rideshare pickups are on the arrivals level, marked by rideshare signs. Prices rise at busy times, and larger groups may need two cars.
The on-site rental car facility is on the ground floor of the parking garage, across the roadway from Bag Claim. Driving suits travelers staying for a week or more in the beach towns or gated communities.
Public buses leave from the lower level of the parking garage and connect with LeeTran transfer points in Fort Myers. It is the cheapest option but slow with luggage and does not run to the islands directly.
Several nearby hotels run free courtesy shuttles; call your hotel to arrange the pickup, as the airport does not operate them.

Both the short-term garage and the long-term lot have accessible spaces, and wheelchair-accessible shuttles serve the long-term lot if you tell the attendant on entry.
Directly across the roadway from the terminal, a short walk to Bag Claim and ticketing. Level 2 is covered, level 3 is open-air with EV charging, and the rental car and ground transportation areas are on the ground floor.

Southwest Florida International Airport is about 15 miles (24 km) southeast of downtown Fort Myers, beside I-75 at Exit 128. The drive usually takes 20 to 30 minutes outside rush hour, longer in the busy winter season. Taxis, rideshare, rental cars and pre-booked transfers leave from outside Bag Claim, and LeeTran buses connect with transfer points in the city.
Yes. Southwest Florida International Airport, code RSW, is the airport most people mean by Fort Myers airport, and it handles all scheduled airline flights to the city. Page Field (FMY), closer to downtown, is a general aviation airport. The code RSW comes from the airport's original name, Southwest Florida Regional Airport, used until 1993.
RSW has one terminal with three concourses, B, C and D. The concourses are not connected airside, so you go through the security checkpoint for your own concourse; check your airline's concourse before you arrive. All arriving passengers reach the same Bag Claim on the lower level. A new Concourse E and a single combined checkpoint are under construction.
Delta, Southwest, American, United and JetBlue carry the most passengers at RSW, with Frontier, Breeze, Sun Country, Allegiant, Avelo and Alaska adding routes, many of them seasonal. Air Canada, Porter and WestJet fly from Canada, and Discover Airlines flies to Frankfurt. Atlanta, Chicago–O'Hare, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Detroit and Boston were the busiest routes in 2025.
Yes. RSW has an international arrivals facility with US Customs and Border Protection on the lower level of Concourse B, with Global Entry kiosks. Discover Airlines flies from Frankfurt, and flights from Toronto, Montréal and Ottawa usually clear US border checks in Canada before departure. International visitors need a US visa or an approved ESTA.
No. There are no airline or pay-per-entry lounges at Southwest Florida International Airport, and Priority Pass does not offer lounge access there. Travelers waiting for a flight can use the restaurants and bars in each concourse, such as Fort Myers Brewing in Concourse C, and the free RSWiFly Wi-Fi network throughout the terminal.
On-demand taxis wait outside Bag Claim on the lower level for walk-up customers, and fares are set by zone rather than by meter. Pre-arranged taxis and limousines pick up on the ground floor of the parking garage, opposite Doors 2 and 5. The Ground Transportation Booth on 239-590-4738 can help with taxi questions.
Uber and Lyft pickups are on the arrivals level, and signs from Bag Claim lead to the rideshare pickup area. Request the ride once you have your bags, and check the car and driver in the app before you get in. In the winter season, waits can be longer when several flights land at the same time.
Yes. LeeTran public buses stop on the lower level of the parking garage, reached by the marked crosswalks from the terminal, and connect with LeeTran transfer points in Fort Myers. The bus is the cheapest option, but it makes many stops and does not run straight to the beaches or to Naples, so most visitors with luggage take a car.
The Short-Term Parking Garage is directly across from the terminal, with covered parking on level 2 and EV charging on level 3. The Long-Term Parking Lot behind the garage has a free door-to-door shuttle to the terminal curb. Free cell phone lots, including one at the Airport Service Plaza, let drivers wait for arriving passengers.
Naples is south of the airport along I-75, usually a 35 to 45 minute drive outside peak traffic. Most travelers rent a car or book a car to the door, since public buses do not link the airport directly with Naples. Bonita Springs and Estero lie on the way, closer to the airport.
Sanibel is west of the airport, reached by the Sanibel Causeway, and the drive usually takes 45 minutes to an hour depending on traffic. The causeway has a toll for vehicles heading onto the island. There is no public bus from the airport to Sanibel or Captiva, so visitors rent a car, take a taxi or book a transfer.
No. Punta Gorda Airport (PGD) is a separate airport in Charlotte County, north of Fort Myers, served mainly by Allegiant. Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) is the larger airport in Lee County, with flights on Delta, Southwest, American, United, JetBlue and others. Check the three-letter code on your ticket before you book ground transportation.
