Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru (BLR) is the airport for Bengaluru, also called Bangalore, the capital of Karnataka in southern India. It stands at Devanahalli, about 35 km (22 miles) north of central Bengaluru, reached by National Highway 44; the drive usually takes about an hour and can take up to two hours in heavy traffic.
IndiGo, Air India Express, Akasa Air and Air India fly to cities across India, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Pune. International airlines link Bengaluru with Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, London Heathrow, Frankfurt, Paris and Amsterdam. The airport handled about 44.5 million passengers in the year to March 2026.
There are two terminals. Terminal 2 handles all international flights plus Air India, Air India Express and Star Air domestic flights; Terminal 1 handles domestic flights for IndiGo, Akasa Air, SpiceJet and Alliance Air.
From the airport, most travelers head into the city around MG Road, Indiranagar and Koramangala, to the tech parks of Whitefield, Electronic City and Hebbal, or north to Yelahanka. Others continue to Nandi Hills or by road to Mysuru.

Check your terminal before you land: all international flights arrive at Terminal 2, as do Air India, Air India Express and Star Air domestic flights, while IndiGo, Akasa Air, SpiceJet and Alliance Air domestic flights arrive at Terminal 1.
On an international flight you go first to immigration, where foreign visitors need a visa or e-Visa and India's online e-Arrival Card, submitted within 72 hours before landing. Terminal 2 has more than 30 immigration counters and e-gates. Then collect your bags and walk through customs, choosing the green channel if you have nothing to declare. Domestic passengers go straight to baggage claim.
In the arrivals area you will find currency exchange and SIM card kiosks. Outside, follow the signs to the airport taxi counters, the app cab pickup zones, the Vayu Vajra bus bays or the parking lots. Commercial vehicles, including pre-booked cars, wait in designated parking lots rather than at the curb, so expect a short walk with your driver.
India runs on India Standard Time (UTC+5:30) all year and uses the Indian rupee.
A taxi, app cab or pre-booked car is the usual choice with luggage; the Vayu Vajra bus is the budget option. The airport Metro line is still under construction.
BMTC's air-conditioned Vayu Vajra buses run 24 hours a day from bays outside the terminals to Majestic (Kempegowda Bus Station), Whitefield, Electronic City, Koramangala, HSR Layout and other parts of the city. They are the cheapest way in, but stop often and can take over two hours.
Authorized airport taxis are booked at the counters in the arrivals area and drive door to door across Bengaluru. Use the official counters rather than offers inside the terminal.
App cabs pick up only at designated zones, signposted from arrivals; at Terminal 2 the zone is one level below the forecourt. Expect a walk with your bags and a wait at busy times.
Karnataka's state bus company runs air-conditioned Flybus coaches from the airport to Mysuru and to Manipal via Mangaluru, useful for travelers heading straight out of the city.
A few suburban trains a day call at the Kempegowda International Airport halt station, linked to the terminals by a free shuttle bus. Services are infrequent, so most travelers use the road.
A pre-booked car meets you in arrivals and takes you to your hotel, office or home, useful for families, late-night arrivals and trips across the city to Whitefield or Electronic City.
