KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is the flag carrier of the Netherlands, founded on 7 October 1919. It is the oldest airline in the world still operating under its original name. KLM is headquartered in Amstelveen, near Amsterdam, and since 2004 has been part of the Air France–KLM group. It is a member of the SkyTeam alliance.
Its hub is Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, from which KLM and its regional subsidiary KLM Cityhopper serve more than 160 destinations in Europe, the Americas, the Caribbean, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Amsterdam's role as a transfer hub means many passengers connect there between European cities and long-haul routes.
On transatlantic routes KLM works with Air France, Delta Air Lines and Virgin Atlantic in a joint venture. Flying Blue is the loyalty program it shares with Air France.
