Always confirm the operating airport shown on the ticket. “Paris” can refer to Charles de Gaulle or Orly, and transportation between them is not an airside terminal transfer.

CDG

Air France’s principal global hub: most of the long-haul network and a large part of its European connections. It uses several terminal areas, so check the boarding pass or the app, because the terminal and gate can change.

Corporate information

Air France Corporate

Air France is the flag carrier of France and one of Europe’s principal international airlines. Founded in 1933, it operates passenger, cargo and aircraft-maintenance activities and connects France with destinations across Europe, Africa, the Americas, Asia, the Middle East and the Caribbean.

Air France and KLM formed the Air France–KLM Group in 2004. Air France is also a member of the SkyTeam alliance, allowing eligible passengers to connect with partner airlines and earn or redeem benefits across a wider network.

The airline’s operations are centered on Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, with additional activity at Paris Orly and Lyon–Saint Exupéry. Air France reported more than 42 million passengers in 2025 and a fleet of 268 aircraft including Air France HOP as of December 31, 2025.

Network

Where Air France flies

Air France operates a broad network structured around Paris Charles de Gaulle, Paris Orly and Lyon.

Routes and frequencies vary by season, demand and operational requirements. Some itineraries carrying an AF flight number are operated by a partner airline under a codeshare agreement. Check the “operated by” line when booking to identify the operating carrier and the rules that apply.

Aircraft

Air France fleet

Air France’s passenger fleet includes aircraft for long-haul, medium-haul and regional services. Its fleet reported for December 31, 2025 totaled 268 aircraft including Air France HOP.

Aircraft substitutions can occur for operational reasons. The aircraft displayed during booking is not guaranteed until departure.

Long-haul aircraft

The long-haul fleet includes aircraft from the Airbus A330, Airbus A350 and Boeing 777 and 787 families. Cabin products and seating layouts vary by aircraft and configuration.

Short- and medium-haul aircraft

Air France operates Airbus A220 aircraft and aircraft from the Airbus A320 family on domestic and European routes. The airline has been introducing newer-generation aircraft as older models leave the fleet.

Regional aircraft

Air France HOP operates regional services using Embraer aircraft. A flight sold under an Air France flight number may therefore be operated by Air France HOP or another partner.

Practical information

Baggage Cabin bags, checked bags, missing luggage

Air France baggage allowances depend on the fare, cabin, route, Flying Blue or SkyTeam status and operating carrier.

Economy

Zero or one cabin bag depending on the fare, plus one small personal item, with a combined maximum weight of 12 kg when a cabin bag is included.

Premium

Two cabin bags plus one small personal item, with a combined maximum weight of 12 kg.

Business and La Première

Two cabin bags plus one small personal item, with a combined maximum weight of 18 kg.

Checked baggage

Allowances are displayed during booking and in the passenger’s trip details. Standard checked pieces are generally limited to 158 cm in total external dimensions, while permitted weight depends on the cabin and fare.

Special items

Special equipment, sports equipment, pets, oversized items and dangerous goods follow separate rules. Partner-operated flights may apply the operating airline’s policy. Check the personalized allowance and current restrictions on the official Air France baggage page.

Delayed, missing or damaged baggage

Report missing checked baggage at the Air France–KLM baggage office before leaving the airport whenever possible. Air France also provides an online process for eligible claims and tracking. Keep the baggage receipt and Property Irregularity Report reference. See Air France’s missing baggage information.

Check-in and boarding Steps before departure

Passengers can normally check in through the Air France website or mobile app, although availability and opening times depend on the departure airport and itinerary. Airport kiosks and staffed counters are also available at many airports.

Check-in and baggage-drop deadlines vary. Long-haul international departures generally require more time than domestic or short-haul flights. Follow the deadline shown in the booking rather than relying on a universal arrival-time rule.

Lounges

Air France operates lounges at selected airports and also participates in the wider SkyTeam and partner-lounge network. According to Air France corporate figures, eligible passengers have access to approximately 200 lounges worldwide through Air France, SkyTeam and partner airports, including 25 Air France lounges.

Access may be available to:

  • La Première passengers
  • Eligible Business passengers
  • Flying Blue Elite Plus members
  • Eligible SkyTeam Elite Plus passengers
  • Passengers purchasing lounge access where offered

Access rules depend on the airport, flight, cabin, frequent-flyer status, capacity and same-day itinerary. Verify the lounge location, terminal, opening hours, guest policy and eligibility before arriving.

Loyalty program

Flying Blue is the loyalty program of Air France and KLM. Members can earn Miles and Experience Points on eligible flights and through participating airline, hotel, car-rental, financial and retail partners.

Miles may be redeemed for reward tickets, cabin upgrades and selected travel benefits, subject to availability and program rules. Experience Points determine elite status. Benefits can include priority services, additional baggage and lounge access, depending on membership level and itinerary.

Because earning rates, qualification rules and partner benefits change, members should consult the Flying Blue account area for the conditions applicable to their trip.

Accessibility and special assistance

Passengers who require wheelchair assistance or other support should request it from Air France as early as possible, preferably during booking and at least 48 hours before departure when the service permits.

Assistance may include support for:

  • Reduced mobility or wheelchair use
  • Visual or hearing impairments
  • Cognitive or developmental disabilities
  • Medical equipment or mobility aids
  • Service animals
  • Passengers who need assistance navigating the airport
  • Children travelling alone through the Kids Solo service

Medical clearance or supporting documents may be required in certain circumstances. Mobility-equipment specifications should be provided accurately, particularly for powered wheelchairs and batteries.
