Terminal 1
Domestic terminal with three sections (1A, 1B and 1C), used by Lion Air, Citilink and other Indonesian carriers for flights within Indonesia.
Also known as: Jakarta Airport, CGK Airport, Soetta Airport, Cengkareng Airport, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK) is the main airport for Jakarta, Indonesia. It handled about 55 million passengers in 2025. Garuda Indonesia, Lion Air, Batik Air and Citilink fly from here to cities across Indonesia, including Bali, Medan, Surabaya and Makassar.
International flights link Jakarta with Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Seoul, Australia, the Gulf and Europe, with carriers such as Singapore Airlines, Qatar Airways, Emirates, Turkish Airlines and KLM.
The airport has three terminals. Terminal 1 handles domestic flights, Terminal 2 serves Lion Air group and low-cost international flights, and Terminal 3 is the largest, used by Garuda Indonesia and most full-service international airlines. A free Skytrain links the three terminals and the airport rail station.
The airport lies in Tangerang, Banten, about 20 km northwest of central Jakarta. The drive takes around 45 minutes in light traffic and can exceed two hours at rush hour; the airport train reaches BNI City station in central Jakarta in about 45 minutes. From here, travelers head to central Jakarta, the Sudirman business district, Kota Tua, Tangerang and onward flights to Bali and the rest of Indonesia.

International arrivals clear immigration first. Check whether you need a visa: many nationalities can use Indonesia's visa on arrival, either applied for online as an e-VOA before travel or bought at the visa on arrival counter, and every arriving traveler must complete the All Indonesia arrival card (immigration, customs and health declaration) within three days before landing.
After immigration, collect your bags in the baggage hall and show the All Indonesia QR code at customs; use the red channel if you have goods to declare.
In the public arrivals hall, follow signs for taxis, ride-hailing pickup and the airport train. Official taxis, including Blue Bird, leave from a rank outside arrivals where a dispatcher assigns cars. Grab and Gojek use signposted pickup zones; at Terminal 3 this is the ground floor of the parking building. Pre-booked drivers wait with name boards just outside the customs exit. Ignore anyone offering rides inside the terminal.
Jakarta is hot and humid year-round, with a rainy season from roughly November to March. Local time is Western Indonesia Time (UTC+7, no daylight saving), and the currency is the Indonesian rupiah.
For most travelers heading into Jakarta, a metered taxi, ride-hailing car or pre-booked transfer is simplest, while the airport train avoids road traffic to the city center.
Official taxis, including Blue Bird, wait at the rank outside each arrivals hall, where a dispatcher assigns the next car. Taxis are metered and expressway tolls are added on top. The drive to central Jakarta takes about 45 minutes off-peak and over two hours at rush hour.
A pre-booked driver meets you with a name board outside the customs exit and takes you straight to your address. Useful with heavy luggage or a late arrival, but road times depend on Jakarta traffic just like a taxi.
Grab and Gojek operate at the airport from signposted pickup zones; at Terminal 3 the zone is on the ground floor of the parking building. Check the app for the exact pickup point, which differs by terminal.
The airport rail link runs from the airport station, reached by Skytrain from all terminals, to BNI City in central Jakarta in about 45 minutes, with some trips continuing to Manggarai. Trains run roughly every 30 minutes from early morning to late evening.
DAMRI and other operators run buses from the terminals to points across Greater Jakarta, and Transjakarta routes link the airport with Kalideres and Blok M. Buses are slow in traffic and less convenient with large bags.

A free automated train links Terminals 1, 2 and 3 and the airport rail station, landside only. Trains run about every 5 minutes, and Terminal 1 to Terminal 3 takes about 7 minutes.
A free airport shuttle bus loops between the terminals, the airport rail station and the cargo area. It is slower than the Skytrain but useful when the Skytrain is busy or closed.
Transfers between terminals happen landside, so you leave the secure area, change terminal and clear security again. Check your departure terminal, since airlines have moved between terminals in 2025 and 2026.
Domestic terminal with three sections (1A, 1B and 1C), used by Lion Air, Citilink and other Indonesian carriers for flights within Indonesia.
Used by Lion Air group carriers and international low-cost airlines; section 2F handles Lion Air group international flights and Hajj and Umrah flights.
The largest and newest terminal, used by Garuda Indonesia for domestic and international flights and by most full-service international airlines.

Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is about 20 to 25 km northwest of central Jakarta. By road the trip takes around 45 minutes in light traffic, but it can exceed two hours during the morning and evening rush. The airport train reaches BNI City station in central Jakarta in about 45 minutes and is not affected by road traffic.
Not quite. The airport sits in Tangerang, in Banten province, just outside the Jakarta city boundary near Cengkareng in West Jakarta. That is why it is often called Cengkareng airport. It is the main international airport for the Jakarta metropolitan area, while Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in East Jakarta handles a smaller number of domestic flights.
Soekarno-Hatta has three passenger terminals. Terminal 1 handles domestic flights, Terminal 2 serves Lion Air group carriers and several international low-cost airlines, and Terminal 3, the largest, is used by Garuda Indonesia and most full-service international airlines. A free Skytrain links all three terminals and the airport rail station.
Garuda Indonesia, Pelita Air, TransNusa, Scoot and most full-service foreign airlines use Terminal 3. Lion Air and Citilink domestic flights use Terminal 1, while Batik Air, AirAsia and other low-cost international carriers use Terminal 2. Terminal assignments changed several times in 2025 and 2026, so check your booking or the airline's website before you travel.
Use the free Skytrain, which connects Terminals 1, 2 and 3 and the airport rail station. Trains run about every five minutes and take about seven minutes from Terminal 1 to Terminal 3. A free shuttle bus also loops between the terminals. Both run landside, so you will clear security again at your departure terminal.
Yes. Official taxis, including Blue Bird, wait at ranks outside each arrivals hall, and a dispatcher assigns the next available car. Taxis are metered, and expressway tolls are paid on top of the fare. Avoid drivers who approach you inside the terminal and walk to the official rank instead.
Yes. The airport rail link runs from the airport station, reached by Skytrain from every terminal, to BNI City in central Jakarta in about 45 minutes, with some trips continuing to Manggarai. Trains run roughly every 30 minutes from early morning to late evening. BNI City connects with the MRT, LRT and Transjakarta buses.
Yes. Grab and Gojek both operate at Soekarno-Hatta from designated pickup zones that are signposted after you leave arrivals. At Terminal 3 the pickup area is on the ground floor of the parking building. Check the app for the exact pickup point for your terminal before you request a ride.
All arriving travelers must complete the All Indonesia arrival card, which combines the immigration, customs and health declarations, within three days before landing and keep its QR code for customs. You also need a valid visa if your nationality requires one. Many visitors can apply online for an e-VOA or buy a visa on arrival at the airport.
Bali is reached by a direct domestic flight from Soekarno-Hatta to I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar. Garuda Indonesia, Lion Air, Batik Air, Citilink, Pelita Air and TransNusa all fly the route, which is the busiest at Bali airport. Check whether your flight leaves from Terminal 1, 2 or 3.
Jakarta uses Western Indonesia Time (UTC+7) all year, with no daylight saving time. The currency is the Indonesian rupiah, and ATMs and money changers are available in the arrivals halls. The climate is hot and humid year-round, with the rainy season running roughly from November to March.
The airport is operated by InJourney Airports, the state-owned company that took over from Angkasa Pura II. Soekarno-Hatta handled about 55 million passengers in 2025, more than any other airport in Indonesia. It opened in 1985 and has three runways and three passenger terminals.
